Instead of having to borrow paddlers from other teams it would be easier for the 10-person heats to be mixed.
Three mixed teams took the 10-person option and were expecting mixed races. All the 20-person mixed teams can race 10-person mixed so why not do it that way? 10-person boats are going to be fun regardless, you don't need to change the roster rules to make it fun.
Maybe the mens/womens thing can be done in the future if they let people know ahead of time.

The only issue I have is that with the two divisions (10 person & 20 person) there is the potential that boats may end up having to race back-to-back
Fore example, the Winner of Race 10 (20 person) has their second 20 person race as Race 16 (12:00 pm) . If this team is also one of the 4 fastest 10 person boats, they would then be scheduled to race a 10 Person - Open race as Race 17 (12:11 pm).
I foresee that most paddlers would get the most bang out of their buck on this regatta, as there will be less rest and waiting in between the many races lol

Any results from the regatta today? Anyone?

Teamwork is so important that it is virtually impossible for the team to reach the heights of it's capabilities or achieve winning results without becoming very good at it. You must practice TEAMWORK as a team, not as individuals!

Crappy weather to start the day but got better after 2ish.
Thanks to all the teams for the close races (Masters, Easy Peezy, etc)
I had a great time but was super exhausted by the end of it all, definitely worth the 20 bucks lol
Big thanks to the volunteers and race management! Great racing all!

Master's of D'Zone Rock! For older paddlers they are amazing. I'm sure they will be one of the top 3 teams of the DB Rankings in the next few years!

I know it's just finished, but does any one know if the GASP will be an annual event?
We're starting to do some advance planning/budgeting for next year and it would be great to know if this can be part of our plans.

I guess it depends if there will be a DragonZone on False Creek next year.

Dragon Zone should still be in false creek next year, seeing as the RTA will still be held there for 2010.
As for the outlook of Last Gasp, it looks good because i doubt that the Taiwanese DB Festival will be run next year (as much fun as that was)
