We have 2 dragon boat teams that paddle out of the Fairway Gorge Paddling Club - Paddlers of the Fifth Moon, a mixed crew that paddles Tues/Thurs 7-830pm and Snappin' Dragons, a women's team that paddles Tues/Thurs 530-7pm.
Both teams will be starting up at the start of April and running until the Victoria Festival in mid-August.
We will participate in 4 races:
Sprints (Victoria) May 28
Nanaimo Jul 8-9
Gorge (Victoria) Aug 12
Victoria Aug 19-20
Fees haven't fully been worked out for the season yet but are usually between $200-250 which is probably the cheapest you can paddle for in Victoria for a full summer season in the dragon boat! These fees cover practice time, shirts and entry into the festivals.
Both teams are competitively-minded rec crews that are looking for fit, reliable, committed, motivated, drama free people. You don't need any paddling experience, we'll teach you that, you just need to have the right attitude to drive our crews as far as they can go.
We're looking for a few more men and women to help keep each strong this year (both teams are among the strongest rec crews in Victoria and Snappin' Dragons was in the top division of every festival last season). If you're interested or would like more info please let me know.
This is the 17th season for Fifth Moon and the 7th season for Snappin' Dragons. We don't typically have a lot of turnaround as we have a great group of people. Just need a few more that are a good fit! Come give it a go, you can try for free before fully committing! Great way to meet a whole lot of great people!
