Time to take out  the binoculars for this weekends regatta.  Looks like there are going to be some tough racing this Sat in the AM. A lot of the comp teams are showing up for this one.

Here are some thought/questions and predictions:

A) Is One West looking for redemption from last year's 4th place finish at Rio Tinto? If they win by at a least a boat length against the competition, they aren't messing around.

B) Dragonheart Beats... Will they continue on their success from last season?

C)  CIBC Imperial Dragons:   ex-world paddlers, ex-FCRCC premier paddlers.. This team cannot be taken lightly.

D) Skinny Fish: I have my eye on you.   You got my attention from this year's FCRCC Spring Knockout Regatta.

E) Master of Creakside...they are old...or should I say experienced...but they are wise.  I'm guessing they have have at least ~350 years of paddling experience total.  Smile

F) FCRCC Premier: They took top spot at the 2013 Rio Tinto festival with "relatively" new paddlers.  Another year of training can go a long way.  It will be interesting to see how they do this year.

G) Gorging Dragon: Glad to see you at this regatta...you guyz are always a force to reckoned with.

H) To all other teams....it's not going to be easy in the AM.

Good luck (I heard it's going to be nice on Saturday) and keep your heads up .....the view of the city is pretty nice on the water.

Prediction;

1) One West

2) CIBC Imperial Dragons

3) FCRCC Premier

Barring barney boats from alcan 2013, your predictions look pretty true.

However,

~ One West has two mixed teams entered in Alcan; only one entered Saturday.. Some bodies going for the World Cup
~ CIBC.. Experience and execution
~ FCRCC Premier has some paddlers going to China for World Cup; No Kamini leading the charge
~ Gorging Dragons: Force to reckon with? Heck ya, they're headed to CCWC 2014 for crying out loud
~ Skinny Fish/Dreadnought/Dragonhearts Beat: Dark horses in my mind that are looking to knock some of the big kids from the block

Prediction: We will only seeing a small glimpse of what we will see at Alcan. I expect the dark horses to make more surprising moves, but would not really look into how One West/CIBC/FCRCC/Gorging Dragons do.

Keep in mind..

Alcan 2013:
1. FCRCC
2. Kai
3. CIBC
4. One West
5. Dragon Hearts Beat
..
7. Gorging Dragons

Cdn Nationals 2013 500m:
1. One West
..
6. FCRCC Premier
7. Gorging Dragons
9. CIBC

Heat 4 has Skinny Fish in Lane 4 and Dreadnoughts in Lane 5,  I think that should be a good battle, I don't know how well it sits with Dreadnoughts are seeded lower than Skinny fish.  I can't wait to watch!

My personal interest is to see how One West will do.

I also can't wait to race with a full boat on CIBC.  We haven't practiced with a full boat yet this year.  Questions will soon enough become answers.  Bring on the battle!
