Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to get a shorter paddle for OC1 use. Anyone selling a good OC 49" paddle?

I currently use a 50" Kialoa Axel II.

If you could contact me, that'd be much appreciated!

Thanks!

You find the 50" too long matt?
49" could be abit shorter than you'd want, you should demo a 49 1/2"

You could save $$$ by having it cut down.

thanks guys!

Yes, finding the 50" a bit too long as I'm holding with my bottom hand a little higher than I'd like..

I thought about cutting it down to save money, but I find the 50" good for OC6 and I'd like to start getting more into that someday.

Thanks for your suggestions!

You should post on CORA, they have a buy & sell section. I know there are some OC paddlers that spares to sell. I run with a 49" for OC6 and 47" for OC1. Here is a good sizing chart from Kialoa:

Outrigger Paddle Sizing Information:

Your Height   Paddle Length
5’0”-5’2”   46”-47”
5’3”-5’5”   47”-49”
5’6”-5’8”   49”-51”
5’9”-5’11”   51”-52”
6’0”-6’2”   52”-53”
6’3”-6’5”   54”-56”

Did you find a paddle?
I recently cut my paddle from 52.5in to 50.5in (for OC6 to OC1 purposes), but now it may be too short.  Confused

You could get it cut down to your desired length @ Alder Bay Boat Co. on GI (approx. $12).

The sizing charts can come in handy, but often it's about the 'feel'.  Our coach has alot of us using short blades (compared to those recommened in the sizing charts) due to his recommended paddling technique.  There are some 6ft guys using 50in paddles in OC6s.

Here are the deets:

The blade has really good catch.
I'm debating whether or not to sell it (I have a similar paddle, but it never hurts to carry a back up), and I haven't even thought of a price yet.
If you have not found a paddle, and want to try it out for a few days, reply or PM me.  I know who you are.  Razz
