Hello Paddlers,

The Dragon Zone Paddling Club is pleased to announce our first annual Dragon Zone Paddler's Expo on Saturday March 24th at the Creekside Community Centre, home of the Dragon Zone Paddling Club.

The Expo is a great place to meet teams, paddlers and vendors. It is a place for teams to recruit new teammates, paddlers to find a new team, and everyone to attend skill workshops and learn from renowned sport Psychologist Dr. David Cox.

The Dragon Zone Paddling Club Expo is a free event. The exception is a team fee of $20 to set up a recruitment table (this is to cover the cost of room, chairs and table rental & includes one ticket to the wine and cheese reception featuring Dr. David Cox).

Please see below for more information. To register go to: http://dragonboatbc.ca/code/festival/register.php

There are many ways to participate:

  • Looking for Paddlers? Set up a table to promote and recruit for your team between 11:30 am and 2:00 pm. Experienced paddlers, lapsed paddlers, novice paddlers, beginner paddlers and the general public are all being invited to attend this FREE Paddlers Expo and many of them are looking to join teams.

The cost to register a team recruitment table is $20.00.

Learn goal-setting and team-building techniques that you can use to increase your team's morale, confidence and focus. (90 minutes)

    • 2:15 pm Race Strategy - What race strategy do Olympic canoeists use? How can you apply it to dragon boating? Learn various sprint strategies in your start middle and finish. (30 minutes)

These sessions are free but you must email [email protected] to register.

I believe Burnwater has been confirmed. We are still waiting for a few others to confirm.
I'll see about getting a list of vendors posted as soon as we have finalized arrangements with them.

Can you tell me how many people you're expecting? Is it just experienced paddlers or is the public invited as well? We're recruiting and are happy to take people without experience as long as they're relatively fit and willing to work hard.

Still contemplating about setting up a team table at the Expo?

Here are a few more facts about this Saturday's event:

  • Over 900 Learn to Paddle participants from last year have been sent email invitations to attend
  • All teams paddling out of Dragon Zone have been invited to attend
  • Advertisements will be running in 24 Hours this week to invite the general public

If you haven't reserved your team table by now, what are you waiting for?
Only a few spots left before we run out of space. Don't miss out.
