First I would like to thank everyone who purchased raffle ticket(s) today at the regatta. And thank you to those who made donation towards this important cause. We are really grateful for your support and donations.
Three weeks from today my team, Team No Surrender, and myself will hopefully have rode across the finish line in Seattle. In case some of you don't know, the Ride to Conquer Cancer is a 2-day cycling event from Vancouver (more specifically Surrey) to Seattle. The money raised will go to the BC Cancer Foundation for research, patient care and education. Each rider needs to raise a minimum of $2500 to participate in the event. My team and I have been training since the end of January and we hope we are ready for the big Ride. We are excited and, at the same time scared, and maybe a bit emotional too. Half of my team have lost a parent to cancer - I, myself, have lost my mom to lung cancer in 2005 - so this is a cause that we hold dear to our hearts.
We need your help to meet our fund raising goal of $20,000. We are currently at 77% and have just under 3 weeks left. My team is selling raffle tickets for a 1-year membership at DVC Indoor Shooting Center in PoCo and the PAL course (firearms license course). The prize is valued at $450! If the winner already has a firearms license then the prize will be a 2-year membership at the range. Tickets are $20 for 1; $50 for 3. Only 200 tickets will be sold and the draw is this Wednesday, June 1st.
