Results:

A Final
Kai Ikaika   1:44.2
Portland Fire Dragons 1:45.8
Paddles of Fury 1:51.2
Wasabi Burn 2:01.6

A Consolation
Navy Dragon Anchors 1:49.6
Eye of the Dragon   1:52.4
Anniemaniacs   1:53.6
Tacoma Nagas   1:55.4

B Final
Gorging Dragons 1:46.3
BlewByU            1:52.6
Khmer-Krom   1:53.0
SunDragons   1:53.8

The Portland teams were strong. There were 10 Canadian teams. Gorging had slow times on Saturday and ended up in B unfortunately. The water seems to change often with the river and the tide effects. The venue was great, lots of tough racing, the starter wasn't very good, the hospitality was excellent. Overall Portland was a great race.

BC had some great teams there, and it was nice to catch up with a few teams we met at the event in Whistler over July 4 weekend. Keep churning that water!

Thanks everyone who was able to come... the rest of you, hope to see you in 2011! We had a great time and hope you did too! We're shooting for the same weekend (September 10 & 11th) but have to go through the permit process and can't confirm that until January.

Send me an email or PM if you'd like to get on the announcements list (teams that were there this year already are). Also, if you have any questions or feedback (please note: we can't change the fact that we race on a river with changing currents, but we are continuing to try and make what we can fair), you can send it my way.

Thanks. We were happy to make A division and our final race was truly amazing, it was a great way to end the season  Smile

Several people on our team said that Portland was their favourite festival ever. We will return.

Awesome Venue!

Incredible race management..very responsive, adaptable and communicative...transparent advancement...the management are paddlers and so have it going on! And it truly shows.

Very strong competition....Fun, friendly, relatively inexpensive... I highly recommend for other  CND teams to step out of the same sad end of the year box... a great way to end the season.

And Castaways you'all are the best hosts, thank you so much!!!
You've sure raised the bar for next year in Victoria.

Agreed, this moved so much better than the Rose Festival races, especially considering the shuffle that had to occur the night before when they found out that one of the event boats was not race-worthy.

Great bunch of paddlers there, too, which made for an amazing weekend!
