Hi Richard

When are your practice days, and where do you practice out of?

Hi

I am looking for paddlers who just want to go for it.  There will be 4 races in 1 day and continental breakfast and lunch are included.

The $22.00 fee is for registration only with no practices. This is a fundraiser for the kids at BC Children's Hospital.

Check out the website at

FYI I think there are only 2 races if I am not wrong. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. But both races are split into 2. One is an obstacle course type race with a figure X and then a 100-125 meter sprint back to the starting point.

My wife and I have volunteered for many years as co-coaches and it is simply a way to introduce DB racing to people who always wanted to try it and support a great cause!

It says on the website that there are four races per team.

I know it works out kind of oddly, as it says it is in two heats. I think you do two races in a row in the same heat or something along those lines.

I guess then it is 4 races but 2 of them are done in the same heat is the way to put it, once in the morning and once in the afternoon which is what I was trying to explain. So yeah Merlin fan what you say is correct. The first part of the race is the obstacle course which is head to head against 2 other teams and then when you cross the finish line you turn the boat around and do the sprint going back the way you just came from. I should know as I have done it 8 years in a row!  Laughing But anyway its done together so that is why I said it is 2 races. I would say for the obstacle course you will need a pretty good steersperson who knows when to tell his crew to hold the boat, back paddle, hold the boat, forward paddle, and then back the boat up again, hold it again and finally go forward to the finish line. You will need to do a figure X in between 2 flags. When you get there you will see what I mean. I am surprised there are no videos out there of these fun races in all the years that PFK has been going on.  Shocked
