Mens was :

 Kai
 FCRCC
Ohana ( I think this is how it was )

It was close between Kai and FCRCC and can't wait till tomorrow as it will be a nailbiter I'm sure .Fcrcc had a mishap during the race w/ 1 of our paddlers slipping off their seat and falling into the boat so we'll have to wait and see in tomorrows final .Kai has a very good team this year and has pulled in some great outside help ( some big names ) so it should be an awesome race if we can all stay in our seats ,lol
Excuses aside, it's pretty amazing that a crew of fairly casual paddlers from Oregon and Washington (hardly outrigger meccas) can go up and beat one the top DB crews, especially w/ zero practice time together.

Nat'l team members? Laci Budjos? Are you sure about that? It was mostly guys from Portland (Mulu Tapasa and co.) along w/ Alan and some other paddlers from Washington. And you still haven't even congratulated them wholeheartedly. Keep making excuses, girlfriend. Maybe next year we'll really stack the crew.

I guess if you look at the team members closely you can find some actually raced with us on the National team 2 years ago and are still on the National team and going to Prague .....maybe you didn't know that ,I'll forgive you ,lol

Kai did a great job ,and I'm very happy they finally beat us .....Mulu is a great sportsman .Kai are a great bunch and we really enjoy the rivalery and all this did was make us step it up now . Sometimes when you are always on top you need to get kicked to wake you up so again thx for the wake-up call

As for stacking the crew we would gladly welcome this so my suggestion is to bring it on next year . No one is making any excuses just stating what happened in the first race and yes Kai clearly beat us by 3 whole seats ( I think ) I can't remember as I was behind you ,lol .....and from what I recalll.....weren't you behind us in mixed ( almost a boat ) or how about that 2000 ?lol ( kiddin w/ ya ) You know ,come to think of it , I don't recall you coming over and congratulating FCRCC wholeheartedly but thats ok we know you mean't to  Wink

Anyway cgrats again to all you guys on Kai ,nice job ,thx !!

I believe the only way to settle this is to have FCRCC thank Kai wholeheartedly, and then have Kai thank FCRCC wholeheartedly, and then have Kai thank FCRCC wholeheartedly again. Its only fair Wink.

No, I did not know that. I was not on the crew. I did notice that before that last post you had A)made excuses for losing, and B)not congratulated the guys who beat you. If you are on that sprint crew you must be a pretty damn good paddler. Now is the time to work on the sportsmanship. BTW, why the anonymity? We're all just paddlers, right? My name is James Clapp and I occasionally paddle w/ Alan and the gang at Sand Point.
You people have a lot of talent up there. I think with a good local steersman, you could do well in Molokai someday.

Yeah people revealing their real identities n' stuff. I guess if paddle boy is that sensitive about losing, he better stay in DBing. The humbling experience of further competition against far deeper fields of outrigger paddlers might do him some good, though.

Actually that post was posted day 1 in the semi's and it wasn't supposed to be an excuse ,it was just a note as to what took place within the crew on that paticular race

I guess if you had of been there you know that FCRCC and Kai always congratulate each other ,win or lose ,either side after the race in "person".We all know each other from the years of racing so we can poke fun at each other and honestly this is is not that huge of a race in comparision to where we are going and have been .Its a gauge for us to help see where we are at and what we may need to change and kai showed us where we need to make a few changes before we head to Prague and this is why I thank them .

Fcrcc is comprised of 2 different groups, the distance crews ( outrigger) and sprint ( dragonboat ) crews .The sprint crews tend to also compete in distance to keep the rivalry up within the club and they do very well in some of the big races in the N/West plus its great crosstraining for us .

Anyway James ,next year jump on the Kai crew and give us another shot and try to defend their title because we will try once again to take it back and I will personally congratulate you in person win or lose

As for me ,I think most know or have met me so no need to post my name on a website but I will tell you in person next year when and if you show w/ kai or whoever

Actually James I race outrigger as well ,both oc6 and oc1 and maybe 1 day you'll get a shot at me but so far I don't think we have competed against each other and I truely enjoy good competition so if I see your name on the race list I'll come and introduce myself . I'll be on my hurricane or my pegasus so it shouldn't be to hard to figure me out  Shifty

Nice job of diminishing Kai's victory again, paddleboy. In the future, maybe you'll learn to give an unequivocal, sincere congratulation (haha). I'm aware of the sprint crew's (and Calvin dem's) prowess in the outrigger, having raced against both crews many times since I moved here from Hawai'i in 2004. I don't see myself DBing anytime soon, but maybe we'll see you at Howe Sound or something. Everyone knows you so no sense revealing your identity? Whatevers. Good Luck in Prague, my friend.

This thread is becoming funny and useless.

Kaohao. Don't mind paddleboy.  Just look at his "Disclaimer" in his signature and you'll know why he put it there.

FCRCC and Kai are on good terms.
