Dragon Warriors and LA Racing Dragons Black are racing in the same first heat.  That will be fun to watch.

Yes that will be a tough heat Smile  Space Dragons in the outside lane is actually a very strong team as well.  They are only seeded low because it is their first year at Alcan (I believe).

just wondering...

if you finish in comp A or B do you have to compete in the guts and glory? what if your team doesn't want to?

Optional of course... you don't even have to compete in Comp A if you make Comp A Smile

ROFL!

Sounds like a pretty tough competitive heat for the FIRST race of ur team's day. The outcome should be interesting.

I predict FCRCC Worlds for the win by 1 boat length.  Kai will be close behind in 2nd.

Thats kinda contradicting hahaha

Only if your points are worth awarding points for if not we may have to take some points Laughing

Since Cathay Pacific is a sponsor, how abt trading the points in for flight tickets? lol

My rough predictions for COMP A only:

1) FCRCC Worlds
2) Kai
3) Pemberton / FCRCC B
4) Pemberton / FCRCC B
5 to 8 will be a toss up between
- lard
- masters
- WW
- magnum
- SIB
- Jetstart?

True at least for this season they are a no go for Alcan. Maybe they will regroup for next year.

Good luck to all teams, I will surely miss the comp 'A' finals but I'll be cheering on my big brother from the sidelines. Unless any comp teams are looking for a female paddler????

Well, Magnum IS a bit short on female paddlers.

NFW, your prediction sounds about right. It's true that the lack of Gorging is abit of a disappointment, but we'll see if there'll be any sleeper hits.

I am really interested in seeing how the two teams from SF are going to do... Space Dragons and Dragon Warriors.. as well as how Portland Fire Dragons fit into the competitive scene at this year's Alcan. And of course... Hopefully us kids over at Magnum will do good too =]  Thinking

In addition to Gorging Dragons, Bay Area Dragons (BAD) are not coming, and the Laoyam Eagles are not racing in the Adult division.

Maybe the most interesting result will be between Magnum vs Masters vs Sudden Impact.  They've raced against each other at least 2 times this year.

When do the American teams start arriving in Vancouver?

Some paddlers today, more tomorrow, most on Friday.  There are practices for many non-Canadian teams set for Friday afternoon.

Since many have mentioned heat 10, and the DW vrs LARD battle... Anniemaniacs, from Portland, should not be left out of the discussion.  The USA teams will be well represented in that heat.

I am reading correctly, in that there are no open races, due to lack of entrants?

Uh, there's still an Open division according to the racegrid, with eight teams.
