Wow, that was an awesome way to kick off the year. Great race site and great racing all day. The shuttle bus from Cates Park was a good idea and I really appreciated not having to fight for parking in the cove.
Congrats to the FCRCC guys and gals for a great performace taking the opening regatta of the year.
Immense props and respect for Dragon Hearts Magnum. It looks like you guys have really stepped it up and will be a force to be reckoned with in the higher comp rankings.
I don't have all the results, but from memory here is my best effort.
Division A
1 - FCRCC Mixed
2 - Dragon Hearts Magnum
3 - Pacific Reach
4 - Sudden Impact Black
5 - TCC Dragoneers
Division A Consolation
1 - Eye of the Dragon
2 - Blu by U
3 - Phat Phish Racing
4/5 not sure of the order - Starbucks Waverunners & SDR

Indeed, that was a great festival today. Other than very minor oddities and some delays, I enjoyed it and had a blast racing again. It's been way too long since the last regatta, and there is nothing like good, tight races to get your blood pumping for the season.
Congrats to FCRCC, Pacific Reach, Sudden Impact Black, and TCC Dragoneers, mainly for giving us a heck of challenge and make sure that we don't get off on the wrong stroke. Can't wait for more photos and videos to show up!

Yes, there was a women's division. I'm not 100% sure of Consolation results but the Championship A was:
1. False Creek Women,
2. Dragon Ladies,
3. Saggin Dragons.
Congrats to all teams in both the mixed and women's divisions. Awesome day!

Yes, there was a women's division. 18 teams to be exact. Why is it that no one seems to really care about posting the results of that division? We race our asses off just the same! And we beat mixed teams to get there!
So, how about when posting "all results"..ALL results actually get posted!

And Fort Langley Sun Dragons were hot on their tails!
Still waiting for all times to be posted.
Great racing and venue.
Only complaint was the long wait on the dock while all the other teams were waiting at the start line when there were five boats in a final women's heat.

Other than very minor oddities...
Yes, a great day of paddling and racing. Congrats to the winners and to those who put their all into it.
However, on the topic of oddities...
Some time ago someone posted a note about festival etiquette and having witnessed a particular "oddities" at the dash, I think that note will need to be repeated.
I understand that this little festival is billed as the "first of the season" and that teams will be looking to evaluate how they pare to their play mates etc., but I would expect that teams would respect the effort that the wonderful volunteers put into holding this festival and given the amount of cash teams are paying to participate in this effort, that teams are going to put their all into each and every race. There are teams that want to race you, and I think that they, at the very least, deserve your full effort!
End of rant.
Thanks all for a wonderful day and looking forward to further races.

Yes! You Sundragons were GOOD! Kicked our butts in the Semi's! Or was it race 2?
I agree..the waiting was kinda crappy..not sure why they chose to run 5 boat heats with only 8 boats available.
I'd like to add that maybe next year that there is an actual "dock master" type person. There were too many cooks in the kitchen down there! We'd get told to stand somewhere, and then get yelled at to move, and then have someone in the back telling us to go back so half our team was in a different spot. Another time we were told to load the boat, and when we did, some guy walks by and yells for us to stop and wait. It was pretty frustrating that way.
On another note, I was pretty sad that only our team went to the dock to do the paddle honor guard for the BC survivor teams after the carnation ceremony...I was used to hundred..instead we had a dozen..felt really bad for the BC teams..they deserved more respect. I even asked some other teams if they were coming and they looked at me like I was speaking japanese or something. Teams that I have seen do it before. Let's remember that this IS a part of the carnation ceremony and do it EVERY time!
