That Easter dinner weight just not coming off as quick as you like? Are you looking to break out of your regular workout routine and try something new? Or do you just like the feel of having a long blunt instrument in your hands?
Then join the fun and be part of the CBC's dragon boat team, the Wave Catchers!
Come experience False Creek from the water and have the time of your life while making new friends and getting fit all at the same time!
Here's the deal:
- We participate in a minimum of two big Festivals: the Alcan Dragon Boat Festival in mid-June and the Kelowna Dragon Boat Festival in September.
- We meet and practice each Sunday morning @ at 11am with 1/2 hour for warming-up, and 1 hour 1/2 on the water; our practices are run by a coach with many years of experience as a competitive paddler and as a coach.
- Training will continue on Sundays until the Alcan Dragon Boat Festival in June, and will then be moved to a weekday evening until September. Practices are rain or shine.
- There is a registration fee of $150; this covers festival registration costs, jersey costs, and coaching and docking fees.
- Beginners are welcome! The coach will show you the basics and fitness will come with practice.
- As it is every year, our primary objective is to have fun!
We've already started our pracices and are short 2-3 paddlers from a comfortable roster so if you're interested in joining or have any questions, please contact me by phone or by email.
