Yes, you can cut an OC paddle, but you might need to buy a new handle.

OH sweet.
Erm, do you know how I'd take the handle off the shaft, and where I'd get a new handle?

It might be easier to look up the Spanish Inquisition website for a used body stretcher. You can get a bargain these days with the economic downturn worldwide. It has been told that you can stretch about three to four inches and it takes about three months for the bones and tendons to heal, just in time for paddling season.

I've considered that, unfortunately. They don't sell those anymore, not even on Ebay! What is this world coming to...

You can drill the shaft out of the handle.

I now have a 51" Kialoa Axel II that I cannot use.
Well, if anyone finds out a way to cut it, I'd love to know.

Put the paddle in a padded vice, carefully use a heat gun to soften up the glue, then take a hammer and a block of wood and lightly tap the handle off, alternating taps on each side of the shaft. This also works w/ carbon fiber, just be really careful not to crush the shaft in the vice.
