Just wondering if anyone has any details on the events during this weekend.

According to a download I got on the website there's supposed to be a barbecue on Friday, band on Saturday, and Paddler's Party on Sunday. I have some info on the Saturday but no details on the Friday or Sunday.

Can anyone help?

Trust you to know about the parties Paddleboy.

You ready for the new bong?  We will be building a new and improved one again this year between races.

We're all looking forward to Sunday in the Beer Tent, with the Shocker (version 4.1) loaded up with Granville Island Pale Ale (mmmmm).  Our crack engineering team is now past the design stage and moving to mock-ups...as MagicPaddler said, final assembly of the finished product will occur between races in the CRC tent.
See you all in Vancouver in a few days!

2007 = V4.0: "The Shocker" (ret.)
2008 = V4.1: "The Fat Finger" - building on The Shocker concept, now with more girth.

And for the Apres "Paddler's Party" Party on Sunday... Fluid Motion will have tickets... When they start playing "closing time" and you're not ready to go home... Join us for ICE COLD BEER... at Tonic featuring Corona's, Tequila Shots, Highballs and Draft for $3.00. $10 Ticket gets you in the door and head of the line privileges before 11:00.

We should be easy to find and just look in the beer garden and ask us about tickets.

Should be fun with cheep beer/drinks and good tunes for those who just don't want to let that medal celebration end.

Cheers and see you there   Very Happy

This year's paddler's party was pretty darn good. Except when Vera's ran out of burger buns and a small arguement brewed in the lineups... hungry paddlers with lots of dragon dollars... it can get pretty nasty.  Razz

I am gonna make a few comments for the organizers of Rio Tinto Alcan:

PROS:

1.  Beer Garden was in an EXCELLENT location.  At night fall it was beautiful with the city nightscape over False Creek.
2.  Good local beer and selection of beverages.  Would have liked to see some Coke or softdrinks for the non-beer drinkers (instead of Vitamin water which tasted like Kool-Aid)
3.  TAKE NOTE!  When the burgers ran out... the Jerk Chicken guys came to the rescue!  Mmmm... that chicken was really tasty.  They should do an all out Paddler's Party with BBQ in the Beer Garden next year.  Let's have more food selections instead of only burgers!
4.  The organizers extended the hours of the beer garden operations!  You guys rock!  Last year it ended before 9pm... this year I left at 10:00pm and it was still going strong!
5.  Tight security.  Even the police was hanging out with the paddlers.  Of course the friendly paddlers made it trouble free for everyone.  Kudos to you all!

Cons:

1.  No Live Music.  Setup a DJ next year to spin at the paddler's party.
2.  Need more food selection.  Vera's Burgers is always tasty but that's the only choice... having only burgers to eat after a long day of racing isn't too great... until the jerk chicken booth came to save the day!
3.  Crowded in the beginning.  Space was very limited.  They should loop the beer garden all the way around to the other side of Science World (maybe to allow easier access to the porta-potty).  When you have to go pee you have to run all the way around Science World!

Hey Calgary,

Great racing and great Beer BONG!!!  You better have that in Vernon ... we might have to bring a few tricks of our own.  I wonder if we'll get any paddling done on that weekend?

Oh God, now our coaches (Sledge and The Hammer) can see what we did after racing in Vancouver!
We convinced them that we only drank water and ate tofu!

i posted this in the other forum, but i was wondering if anyone knew who the cameramen were at the beer garden after the races?  they have a video of us having a....race of sorts, and we all seem to have "forgotten" who they were and how we are to view the video they took.
