Looking for a change or a fresh start with another team?

We are an established dragonboat team, entering out 20th season. Last year we overcame a couple of adversities and ended the year with a Platinum A finish in Kelowna.  This year we are looking to improve on our late season success, by  seeking a few "Good Men and Women Paddlers" (more so MALES) to fill our roster, who have paddling experience with either a  rec or comp division team; experience not necessary, but certainly preferred.  If you possess that "competitive spirit",  but DON'T WANT to be committed to 3-5 practices a week, then we are the team for you.  If you are actively fit, CAN commit to twice a week practices, and also possess a fun attitude, we want you to come out!

We practice out of FCRCC, on Mondays and Thursday nights at 7:00 PM (on the water at 7:30 PM).

If you are interested in learning just a wee bit more about the team, please email the address below, and I will fill you in with more details.

Cheers!

Hi

I would be really interested in knowing more about your team.  I have been doing oc for the last couple of years and would like to try dragonboating and compete in this year's Alcan Festival.  I'm not really looking for a "super competitive" team, but the twice a week practice works well with me, especially Mon/Thur nights, as I already paddle out of Jericho the rest of the week.

Could you pm me with more details regarding club fees and any other info you have about your team.

Thank-you!

OC racer.

Not to pick on you specifically ocracer, but your post just happens to be the one I see tonight after a long day of similar situations...

I love the level of literacy and comprehension of people these days...

If I was a coach posting in here, it wouldn't give me much confidence in your ability to listen to advice, comments, critique, etc.

Never give a match up halfway through. Never say that you do not feel up to it, that your condition is bad, and throw in the towel. Fight to the very end, always looking for your chance to break through.

Colossus, if you are a coach, (heaven help us), I probably wouldn't want to paddle for you anyway, no offence.  It wouldn't give me much confidence in your coaching abilities, your choice of words, much less your reading and comprehension skills, to understand that your comment or reply really has no bearing on what this original posting is all about. (We appologize Holdtheboat).
If you have an issue, read what I said, and PM me.  And we can discuss it there...otherwise, start a new thread of your own...and air out your frustrations on all of us..lets hear you get up on your soap box, be proud and LOUD!

....Not to pick on you Colossus.

Actually rightarm, I'm well aware of PMs, and have made much use of them over the years I've been a member.  Wink
As I wrote above, I just have issues with people who, perhaps in their excitement to get involved in raw ass-cheeks and lop-sided body composition, skip over the "for more information, please email the provided email address" part and post a reply in the forum instead.  Yes, I freely admit that its anal, can come across as overbearing and a whole schlew of other negative things.  But thats ok, thats just a part of who I am: a stickler for detail, on the verge of being OCD.  Smile

But enough cluttering of this thread, its time to start my own, as per ocracer's suggestion.  Very Happy

OK....Let us call a truce...and get to the matters at hand please..

I appreciate the 3 men, doing their part in keeping my thread on top of the "Latest Topics list" so to speak, but please let us move on and not use this as a platform for, should I say, "friendly bickering" between old friends  Laughing

MY TEAM is still recruiting, for a "Few Good Men and Women" to join our squad this year. Very Happy  If you or know anyone who is looking for a team or a change from your current team.  Please feel free to contact me by our email: [email protected].

We will be having our first practice this Monday, Feb 18th, if you would like to come and try it out.
Where: FCRCC
Time: 7pm for a brief meeting, then warm-up (on the water by 730 or 745pm).
Please RSVP to me by email, so we know to expect you and let you know whether there is still room in the boat.

I appreciate ALL the EMAILS that I have received so far, and I will respond to you soon as I can!

So what team are you in case I do have people in mind who are looking to join a comp team?

well there's only 2 possibilities I think... RGL & TD Lightning (could be wrong, but I don't think scotia practices at fcrcc?) and i'm pretty sure RGL hasn't been around 20 years so i'm going to take a wild stab at it and say... TD LIGHTNING???

Ohhhhh you are being so mean my friend! RGL has been around but obviously you were being sarcastic! LOL  Laughing And TD actually posted a recruitment I think on here already. I know they are looking for a coach but I thought I saw they are also getting paddlers? I could be wrong on that though. And I found out who it was that started this thread and to my surprise it is Scotiabank! If you google "[email protected]" it will bring up just 1 single hit and it is for that team!
And thanks for my friend who PM'd me about the google thing. You were right! Wink
