Where do I find a good PFD?

I've been searching around but I don't know where to start. I'd like something pretty basic, nothing over $150, but has a pocket for keys etc and is of course comfortable. Any suggestions?

If you're ever in the Valley, Western Kayak and Canoe has a great selection and good deals. Also, for the month of March, they offer 10% off for dragon boaters. I bought mine there for $120, but they have many in the $80 - $150 range. Variety of colors, but male/female selections. Good luck on your hunt!

The Stolquist Betsea is great for female paddlers. Not too bulky and not restricted. Try Pogue Sports. There is a picture on the website at

Thanks for the input guys,
If possible could I get the address to both poguesports and Western Kayak and Canoe? I went to the poguesports on Main and 2nd, and it was closed during their open hours, and apparently now it's gone? Thanks!

Here's the web address:
http://www.westerncanoekayak.com/
and the location is:
1717 Salton Rd.
Abbotsford, B.C.
(604) 853-9320
Basically, it's right off the McCallum Exit off Hwy 1 (go straight, don't go back over the hwy) turn left on King Road (first lights) and turn left on Salton Rd. (about 1 block from the exit). Go to the end of the road and go left thru the MTF parking lot until you're in the Western Kayak and Canoe parking lot. Good luck!

Thanks for such a quick response! Abbotsford is a bit out of the way, because I don't drive, but i'll definitely look into pogue sometime when I have the time to bus there. Thanks so much!!!

If you're going to go through the effort to bus there, call ahead to make sure he's actually there. As you noticed when you went that time and he wasn't there, he is occasionally not there during store hours.

I agree. Store hours may not always be accurate either because when they were on 2nd Avenue and I trecked down before closing time, the store was closed.

Thanks, I actually went to Sport Chek yesterday but they only had huge ones.
I'll check out MEC but i heard they're on the pricier side for the same brand/model as other stores :S I'm such a PFD noob.

Hello All Paddlers that have been looking for Pogue Sports.
We are still here to help, but we do slow down during the winter and do not maintain an off season store front location. To prevent future problems, we have permanent warehouse location in Richmond. We are trying to maintain the best service, but that does require some short hours during the off season.
We have Stolguist PFD in stock. The Beatsea is a great unit for women.
To help with our Vancouver Paddlers, I do make arrangements to meet Saturdays with products at our on water location at the Burrard Marina. Please email us if you are not able to come. We are alway on site in Richmond Tuesday and Thursday, and may schedule meetings and other appointments on the other days.
Sorry for the inconvenience, as we try to support as best as we can.
