Hi there!

My name is amanda chan, and I'm the coach of a 2nd year team called Banana Fusion. I'm interested in getting in shape as well as meeting people outside of my own team, so if there is any team out there who wants a lonely coach-turn-paddler, please contact me Sad We're a super friendly team and we're really new to the sport, and I haven't paddled in 3 years. I'm 19 and I just graduated from high school in 2006, and i've been coaching since.

I prefer novice-intermediate teams (no Comp A teams or anything) but just a team that does a lot of strength, endurance, and cardio training. I cannot make it on Wednesdays or Saturdays because banana fusion has practices those days...

But if you're interested in letting me join you guys for a bit, and possibly my girlfriend (the manager of our team) we'd really appreciate it! We can share techniques and have a buddy team to cheer each other on!

Where are you?  Fort Langley had 8 teams in 2007.  There are 2 mixed teams and 6 women's teams.  I know some of the teams are looking for paddlers and coaches.  Does Fort Langley interest you.

Hello Amanda

You are welcome to join and buddy with Gung Haggis Fat Choy dragon boat team....

Especially since you are Banana Fusion, and our team has banana, haggis and even hapa fusion!
We have talked a few times, and we should be able to work something out, since our teams both practice on Tuesdays, maybe we can hop boats, or hook up for practices.  We are happy to share coaching techniques and information, and I attended the False Creek paddling workshop in October.

Gung Haggis practices Sundays 1pm and Tuesdays 6pm.  We practiced into October, as we raced voyageur canoe races at Ft. Langley, then we continued for fitness and fun to the end of November.  We are now taking a Winter break until February - as focus is also put on organizing for our big fundraiser dinner:  Gung Haggis Fat Choy Robbie Burns Chinese New Year Dinner.

We are hoping to have two teams for 2008 - an advanced Rec team + beginner Rec team.

hello to you too!

I actually don't remember talking to anyone on your team, except perhaps on the last day of Alcan 2007, when we asked a few of your teammembers to donate to breast cancer (myself and two paddlers were walkers in the Weekend To End Breast Cancer) and you generously donated to the cause Smile but there is a team called Red Fusion Banana (we did not copy their name!!! Razz )

i'd be very happy to share techniques with you. I'm relatively new to the coaching thing, (i believe i'm the youngest adult team coach in alcan?) so any tips would be great. My techniques might not be the best ones Razz We're working on what's the best technique for a beginner team, such as how to do starts, finishes, etc. without risking timing.

If you don't mind my asking, how much do you usually charge for your registration fee? Just curious Smile and about what is the age range of your team?

Thanks for answering my many inquiries...
