IDBF is campaigning to get Dragonboat officially recognized as an Olympic event.

They have set up a petition to get our collective voice heard http://www.dragonboat2008.org.uk/

don't think so, the tshirt is sanctioned by the idbf, so maybe they are available at IDBF festivals, which are only the East coast (toronto or montreal, forgot which one)

Sadly, I doubt the IOC will take the petition very seriously when the see **** like this:

.... I'm sure these aren't the only ones, these are the ones I noticed on the first page of the petition alone.  Sad

Is this a hoax?  Why did they have to Photoshop the picture of the guy sporting the yellow t-shirt and the dragonboat paddle? Zoom in a bit... the paddle is SO obviously cut and pasted into the image and the yellow t-shirt looks like someone drew it on with the paintbrush tool.  Nice job of the shading, but I think the edge on the left sleeve is the biggest give away that it's not real.  Laughing

You are correct, I did not look at it long enough to notice, but the guy definitely has a white t-shirt on with the yellow one superimposed. Pretty sh!tty photoshop job, but isn't that noticeable on the small pic and it blends in with the jpeg compression.
I guess the IDBF didn't have the funds or means to have the shirt properly photographed.

Oh please!  Anyone with a $20 disposable camera can take a better photo than that.

I prefer to think this is all some big conspiracy.  I bet they made up the T-Shirts and this whole petition thing to cull email address from the Dragonboating community so that they can mass email dragonboat-related advertising.

Bastards!   Laughing

If you scroll through and check some of the replies, you'll probably recognize invidual paddlers and teams. I remember receiving an email back in 2001 asking me to sign.

I don't doubt most or all of the signees are legitimate people who, like myself, want to see Dragonboating in the olympics and yes, I do see familiar team names etc.  It doesn't mean they won't be using our contact information for their own nefarious purposes. Wink

I also think the people running the petition need to very carefully ensure that only one person submits a 'signature' to the petition.  They could have done this by IP address fairly easily, but as long as they cut out obvious duplicates before submitting it everything should be okay.

just because they had to photoshop the shirt on, then added the paddle for aesthetics doesn't mean the whole thing is a hoax.

frankly the only thing I focussed on was the petition, what were you doing gazing at that guy in the photo for anyways?  Wink

Not at him... at the hideous shirt.  It's a good example of what NOT to do if you want to promote a sport.
