Our team has recently purchased a dragonboat and are wondering what type insurance is necessary. Some groups don't insure the boat but insure the paddlers. We feel it is imperative to insure the paddlers, but what type of insurance packages are recommended? Would you insure the club under one blanket policy or does each person have to be named in the policy? Are guests and people who rent our boat covered in the policy or do they need special treatment to be covered? Any advice would be appreciated to help us wade through this before we start paddling.

You should get both boat insurance and liability insurance.  Anything less would be foolish, IMO.  You should talk to FCRCC, Pogue Sports, AIAB and DZ to find out where they get their insurance.  I don't think it is is cheap and there are not alot of insurers for this type of stuff..

Alex Only,

Did you end up purchasing insurance and if not, are you still in the market?  I may an option for you to explore.  You can email me at [email protected].

Kind regards,
