Team LifeScan, based out of Dragonzone, is looking to recruit paddlers, a drummer, and a steerer for the upcoming 2007 season.

Important info: *******UPDATED MARCH 2, 2007*******

Hi, thanks for all the interest in our team!  Unfortunately, our roster has now filled up for paddlers.  We are still looking for a drummer and a steerer however.  If you are interested in steering or drumming, PLEASE contact me (Marlon) by Personal Message.  thanks!  - Marlon

**************************

We practice to compete in 2 festivals:
  • Alcan Dragon Boat Festival (False Creek): June 16 & 17th
  • Kelowna Dragon Boat Festival: mid-September

Our season starts March and ends in September.
  • If you cannot paddle the entire season you can go March to June (for Alcan) or June to September (for Kelowna)

Practice info:
  • We will have core practices one day a week: Thursday 6:10 pm (to 7:40 pm - practices are 1-1/2 hours)
  • 2nd practice: Monday 6:10 (to be added as necessary as we approach Festivals)

Cost:
  • Our team is sponsored by LifeScan Canada Ltd. so fees are reasonable (plus expenses - example if you want your own equipment you can purchase on your own).
  • We also do fundraising to help decrease the overall costs  - if you are not able to or choose not to fundraise, you can choose the option to put out cash instead of your time.
  • Interested in knowing more about costs?  PM me - see below.

Level of Competitiveness:
  • LifeScan is aiming for the Rec B level: the emphasis is on fun, eating well at our festivals (with thanks to our support staff!) and having a good time.
  • While hardware is great, is it NOT our primary focus.

If you are not sure if this is something that you would like to do, you can come to a couple practices to try it out before you commit.

If you are interested in joining, or would like some more information, please PM me.  Thanks!

Hi there  Hi

Is your team still looking for paddlers?  I have a newbie female friend who is keen on joining.  If you're still interested, let me know how she can contact you, and when you'll start practicing on the water, if you haven't already started.

Thanks!  Very Happy

Hi, I'm a female left paddler with two years of paddling experience.  My g/friend  is also interested in paddling this year (she's a newbie).  Are you still looking for paddlers?
Please let us know!

Thanks, Michelle

Hi,

I'm a male paddler who is interested in joining a dragon boat team.  I had paddled for one year a couple of years ago, but haven't since then.  Could you please let me know if you have any spots available?

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi,
I'm a female paddler and have been displaced..  I just moved into the area./  Your team sounds like exactly what I am looking for.  Please contact me.

Hello Team LifeScan,

I met someone at a party who referred me to your team. I am a rookie paddler. In fact I've never done it before but I am psyched to learn and be a team player.

If you have space available, please let me know!

bump.

Update: our paddling roster is full (sorry!) but we're still looking for possible steerers and drummers - FYI, we have tentative propects for both and are looking to firm things up at of our first practice on March 15th, 6:00pm, at Dragonzone.

PM me if interested in steering or drumming - experience is an asset, but not strictly necessary.

Once again: apologies, but our paddling roster is full.

thanks,

- Marlon
