If you are interested in attending the FCRCC team information meeting mentioned in the recruiting section ...there has been a change due to the increased interest

The meeting is still this Thursday Oct /12 /06 @ 6:30 pm  but has been moved to :

Room 289 at the Emily Carr School which is still on Granville Island but on the north side of the island , almost directly inline with the False Creek community centre ( which is the south side of the island ). Room 289 is in the North Building ( closest to the water) .

 Don't be late !! lol .

Seriously ...if you have ever wanted to be a part of one of the best club teams in the world than this is your chance to have a  listen and decide if this is for you .If you should decide to become a team member you will recieve some of the best coaching available anywhere .All I can say is it doesn't get any better than this and it will be well worth your while to attend and see what may be coming up in the future and where the team may head to next and the training they offer .

This meeting is about the mens ,women and mixed teams so all are welcome ( male /female) inc potential new paddlers from any discipline - dragonboat ,outrigger, flatwater, etc ( although you should probably have some paddling experience already whether at a rec or comp level ) .

That will be explained at the meeting I would think. In the past tests, I have had to do on comp teams ,its usually testing to find out how much endurance you have and where your lactic acid builds up

It usually is a weight lifting test where you have to do as many reps as you can w/ 1/2 your body weight ( males ,females less ) in a 2 minute period.... if you are even able to go that long .Some of the tests are bench press ,bench rows,wide-grip pull-ups ,dips & sit-ups are the most common and a run .

You are usually tested over the training season ,prior to final team selection ,to see your gains as most people will definately gain ( if they follow the set training program) unless your already hardcore in the gym .

Its not something you need to worry about as most people make their biggest gains in the gym in the first 3 months they hit the gym .

hm, i'm still waiting for our fitness/food gurus to set me up with a proper eating program.  i think maybe that, combined with gym time (i HATE going to the gym and avoid at all costs Sad ), i might be able to put on some weight.

hahaha actually, i was told to not gain any weight if i want to stay in the front of the boat.  works well for me, if i have to lift 1/2 my body weight on fitness tests. Cool  less weight to lift! Laughing

 Just a note :

If your presently a member of a mixed team you might still be able to be a part of the mens or womens team and race with your mixed team if you so chose ..just something to consider if your debating whether this is for you

Remember this is a info meeting and you don't have to sign up that nite if you don't want to
