Never give a match up halfway through. Never say that you do not feel up to it, that your condition is bad, and throw in the towel. Fight to the very end, always looking for your chance to break through.

BlueStreak, Thanks for the awesome pictures!!

I was in boat 6, Sweet & Sour Dragon Balls (Victoria)... it was a RUSH to be in that race!  Whatta feeling!!

Great race to all teams!  Really tight!  This was Sweet & Sour's first time at Alcan and they were INCREDIBLE!  Thanks for having me on the boat!

Spectacular weekend everyone!  Especially paddling in the pouring rain! Laughing

I agree.. I remember looking out from the docks (was in the comp B finals waiting for the gems to come in), and seeing Boat #1 just flying!!   That was awesome.   What a rush to see!

is the guts and glory results out yet?

does anyone know the officail rules for the requirements of re-race...

quite a few teams fell victim of the bad steers syndrome and got their festival flopped...

Hamber was raided by the GHS Pirates, then had to start from a dead boat, though they did catch up to some jr. teams.  But only got 10 seconds reduced time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vhe_ip7UmRw    lane 5, kudos to Synergy for recording this,

Btw, if anyone has the video/photos of the Hamber crashing race/finish, it would be great if you could share with me.

My profuse apologies to Hamber for that collision, as lead paddle for the GHS Pirates I'm still unsure as to how that occurred. Whether it was lack of tiller experience with the Geminis, equipment malfunction (till break), or the boat itself (I heard boat six had other collisions and steerage problems), I would like to apologize as Captain and on behalf of the entire team to all all those affiliated with Hamber who read this, especially the paddlers. I hope it didn't ruin their regatta experience or taint their festival weekend. My congratulations to them for doing so well afterwards, in that race, and in the Jr. A Finals. I'm truly sorry once again.

There is a link on the forum to the Alcan results, including the Guts and Glory.  However, my team (Capital Iron Dragons) raced in G and G and we aren't ranked at all.....we aren't even listed!  What's up with that?  We were in lane 6 in the 6/16's.  Does anyone have any ideas where I could find out what happened?

Wow that's pretty crazy  Shocked. It isn't all that surprising though, I was looking at those dragonheads yesterday and was thinking to myself that sooner or later one was gonna fall off. In the end did the rerace change any of the results?
From my point of view, the only difference between the results of first race and the re-race was that the boat with the dragon head problem came in 7th instead of last. All other placings were exactly the same.
