The most updated rankings from last year can be found
here
. Unfortunately, the last time they were updated was on sept 15th, so these standings are missing results from the Kelowna festival.
These rankings are calculated using a points system. Each of the top ten placements from a race is assigned points ranging from 32 for first to 2 for tenth place. Add the points up and you've got your rankings! Its simple and fairly effective. You could say that this system unfairly puts the smaller races & regattas on equal footing with the big festivals like Alcan, Victoria or Kelowna but some might argue that that is a good thing...

I really have to apologize for not updating the standings after the 15th... I was swamped at work which carried over into my off work hours. Also, it didn't help that we had to wait for official results.
We are currently working on building a database for this year that would tabulate results by applying points for the standings as well as determining average placement in races and number of races attended. Unfortunately we will not be looking at times results since they are not a good determinant of performance.
We will try to get the results up in a more timely manner this year, but it really depends on how fast the official results come out and how was we can enter results into the database.

While this system might be 'simple and fairly effective', it is not accurate. Not to say that Extreme Reach isn't a good top notch team, they are, but the are not #1 as this system states. I'd place them about 6 or 7th, Alcan Success if by far a stronger team as is FCRCC. This system does give good indication to who's in the top 10 but not in order.

Nothing is ever perfect i guess! unless we get all the teams to race in the same regatta on the same day, same boat, and same lane !,to get a "top 10" in accurate bragging order, then maybe those said teams could get together at the end of the season for a regatta of their own, maybe a 2 day event round robin style.
Hopefully the system that is now in place can show some of the lesser known teams that go to all the regattas but are still striving to make an impression, seeing their name in lights may help to give them that extra encouragement to rise up in the ranks ,
have a great Season everyone
