Chaos,  thanks for taking the time to keep this up-to-date.  I am sure I can speak on everyone's behalf and say we all appreciate it.

i have to admit, i failed to duplicate the work you have done chaos.  it really sucks.  either you have a lot of time on your hands or you are REALLY dedicated to west coast dragon boating.  either / or, good on you, and thx for all the work.

but after revewing the standings I do have a problem taking the rankings as accurate since teams that race only once or twice and against island (or lower mainland) teams end up fairly high up in the rankings but they have not raced each other.

If Chaos had lots of time on their hands what they need to do is compare based on who was in an event and then go from there.  Also need to factor in the turnover factor after Alcan as most of the teams are not pure after Alcan (except for Pac Reach).

Not an easy job and they cannot make everyone happy so it is definitely a valiant effort and it is fun to look at (but I only look at it for amusement value, sorry Chaos   )

Keep up the work (actually keep your job cause if you go to a new one you may not have enough time to do this       )

I have to agree with you that the rankings have "issues" but these are just straight objective rankings based on results. I personally look at it just for fun and I would never go by what it says.

To be honest, it would be great to have results based on races where the attendees were part of some league or whatever but that would need a governing body, a lot of organization and time. Say something like get 20 or so teams to agree before hand the season starts as to which festivals that they will be entering in with fixed rosters. Run a semi-formal league that way and based on the results that team would be the champion of the league. That would be semi-ideal. Maybe I'll think about organizing something like that in the future... would probably need a lot of help to do it though.

Chaos, how do you decide which DB club team gets the points when it is a merged team (if you know it was a merged team)?

Basically for merged teams, if I know they're merged from the same club then I would give points to their "A" team. So as long as, for example, there's one Roli team entered into the festival, the Roli Canada I team will get their points whether they're the Open team or the Masters. I did it this way since I feel that teams should always be representing their team name to the best of their ability no matter the team's made up of paddlers from their "B" team. If the team is made up of various paddlers from various teams, I just consider them as a completely new team (Easy Peezy & Lil' Boat come to mind). I'm pretty sure that I might be making no sense whatsoever though...

Revisions to be done based on input from the community:

Fan Tan Alley Cats of GRPC is the same team as Absolut Adrenaline
are there other AKA's for teams that I should be aware of?

Finally got around to updating the standings... Well the Grand Prix standings anyways...

I was told that Sudden Impact was a renaming of another team but can't remember... was it SOAR?

Now that the DB season is pretty much over, what are the overall rankings?  I would assume that it would have changed since July 29th.
