Now that we've had a week to let the sunburns heal, who do you think was the most surprising team of the festival???

My vote goes to Eye of the Dragon, they never cease to amaze me!

i give props to my old (unrecognizable) team vo2max.
New crew; save 5 paddlers (4 female and 1 Cole) and the steersman; and they managed to place higher than ever before.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I know... CC Dragons, known as Mac's CC Dragons last year, is the "unofficial" other-recreational team for Roli. This team is for paddlers that only want to paddle for fun and once a week rather than twice a week like the Rebels.  I believe some Roli Dragons from last year paddle on CC now due to priorities that prevent them from paddling more than once a week.

Macs CC's are a sleeper team.  They always do fairly well since the majority of them are experienced paddlers.

It's not as if they're all newbies, walked onto a team with 1x/week practice and suddenly end up with pretty good race times.

Hmm, the top 25 teams...Do they practice two or three times a week ? Does any of them practice once a week like CC Dragons ?

I was pleased to see Eye of the Dragon in Comp C  8)

True, few if any top 25 teams other than CC Dragons paddle once a week. But considering the extent of their previous paddling experience I don't see it that hard to get back into the groove of things and compete...  especially since many of them are former competitive GM/Roli paddlers.

It's just their decision to start early in the year and only go once a week. Some teams like FCRCC that pratice three times a week only start in May...  of course it's not to say their paddlers aren't on the water practically year round in their other boats.

I agree though.. It's always great to see Eye of the Dragon place high in the various festivals.
