Dear Dragon Boaters,
DBA will be producing the Taiwanese Dragon Boat Races on
Sept. 4-5 during the Labour Day weekend. Early bird
registration is $600 by June 30. Registration in July and
August will cost $700.
The Dragon Boat Association is committed to giving good
value to dragon boat paddlers. Included with the race is
an accompanied Taiwanese Festival which has been voted as
the number one cultural festival in B.C. for the past two
years. We are expecting over 50000 people to attend the
festival. Each team registered will get 20 tickets (valued
at $9.75 each) per paddler. The team can sell the tickets
at a discount (suggested price of $5) to raise money for
the team. The team keeps all the money. You may not sell
the tickets during the festival days (Sept. 4-6).
There will be four divisions. Each division has medals for
first, second and third place for the whole team. The
first place winners of the first two divisions also receive
individual prizes for each team members(roster is 24
paddlers plus a manager = 25 members). Teams will be
racing using three different types of dragonboats. They
are the Taiwanese Dragonboats, the original Teak
Dragonboats and the Fiberglass Dragonboats. Of course,
each heat will be raced with the same type of boats. If
