PLEASE READ ENTIRE EMAIL AS YOU MUST SUBMIT SPECIFIC INFORMATION BEFORE FESTIVAL PRACTICES MAY BE BOOKED.

Also, if you have not yet paid your registration fee, you cannot book Festival Practices until that is done. Thank you in advance  Smile

The purpose of festival practices is for all team members to become familiar with the marshalling, boarding and safe boat handling practices that are to be used when racing during the festival.

Up to 3 Festival Practice sessions (each 1.5 hours in duration) are included in the basic registration fee. See below for the number of sessions your team is eligible for:

Any team that practices regularly (i.e., one or more times per week starting in April 2004 or earlier) at a recognized club (i.e., FCRCC, Dragon Canoe Club, Dragon Boat Association, Lotus Sports Club, Port Moody Rowing & Paddling Centre, Deep Cove Rowing Centre and Richmond Dragon Boat Centre) OR any team that has previously been in the Recreational A Division or Competitive Division - is eligible for one, optional, Festival Practice.

All other teams are eligible for 3 Festival Practices. New teams should take all 3, teams that have paddled in our festival before may take up to 3.

Teams that practice out of Dragon Zone on weekends will retain their practice times for the 3 Festival Practice weekends (please note that festival practices all start at the same time, but we will endeavour to keep your practice times as is for consistency).

The False Creek Women's regatta will be run out of Dragon Zone on Saturday, May 29 and there will be limited practices available that day (Dragon Zone teams - you will retain your regular practice that day unless you are participating in the women's regatta. If this is the case, please let me know).

Festival Practices must be scheduled with the Race Registrar at [email protected]. Bookings will be accepted after April 1, 2004 ONLY and will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. You may request a day and time preference and we will do our best to accommodate. Please submit the following when making your request:

Team Name
Number or practices you are requesting
If you are requesting more than one practice, also include:  date you started, or will start, practicing AND division your team finished in, in last year's ADBF (if applicable)
Date(s) and time(s) you are requesting
Festival Practice weekends are: May 15/16, May 29/30 and June 12/13
Festival Practice Times are:  8:30-10:00AM, 10:00-11:30AM, 11:30-1:00PM, 1-2:30PM we will add a later time slot only if necessary.

If you have already submitted your request, please email me the information you did not include. Once I receive it, I will schedule your practice(s).

Festival Practice location is at the Dragon Zone Club trailer, located at the Southeast corner of False Creek beside the Science World Aquabus dock.

On another note, for those of you who do not already know this, I do not work for the festival full-time. The best way to reach me is via email and, on that note, I will be away from April 2 (tomorrow) until April 11. I will NOT be checking voicemail during this time but I will be checking email. I will reply to you while I am away, but it may take a couple of days to get back to you.
