I also heard Gung Haggis isn't going to have a team either.

Gunghaggis's first practice will be in early April. Even if Todd only had 10 paddlers, he'd still enter the team into Alcan. I know few people who are as passionate of their teams as he is, and I hope he never changes too.  Very Happy

I understand why everyone picks on him or even hates him, but he's never hurt me, so I can't jump on your wagon. I would be interested in hearing your stories though.  This is, afterall, the gossip thread Idea

Well, twist my arm …

First, I want to say that Todd introduced me to dragon boating, so I give him credit for that.  However, I have mentally blocked a lot of things that happened during my first year.  Here’s what remains …

We used to do this one finger exercise where all paddlers of the team would use their index finger to lift up a paddler.  Good team-bonding exercise!?!  Maybe, but we always did it at the most inappropriate time or place.  During Alcan, we did it in the marshalling area.  Guess who was late getting on the boat?

Before the actual lift, we had to put our hands on top on the person to be lifted, “feel” the energy and recite “I believe.  I believe in you and me.  I believe in us and we.  I believe …”

The worse team-bonding exercise of all was one that we did in Kelowna.  We had to lie on top of each other, overlapping to form a giant human chain.  It was hot and some paddlers had really bad b.o.  Needless to say, it was unpleasant.

Not a single paddler from the 2002 Gung Haggis team returned the following year …
