Hey all,
seems like there's a lot more people using this forum these days. So let's use this thread for people to introduce themselves.
You can do a description of yourself that includes your age (roughly or exact), gender, nationality, and of course your paddling resume such as which teams you've been with and how many years you've been paddling. Try not to make any political comments.
I'll start. I'm Photog, I'm a 25 yr old asian male from Van., BC and I have been paddling since '95. teams I've paddled with full time are "Up The Creek" the defunct Gladstone Sec. team, and Vo2, my current team.
I've paddled part time for the Civil Serpants last summer for the Vic festival, and have raced with Diesel Fish from San Fran, and The Multnomah Channel Canoe Club from Portland.
It's funny how I ended up on this team. I wanted to continue paddling when I finished high school, and my friend was on his gf's team - Vo2.
So he invited me to come try out and I made it. the next year, they broke up and neither returned to the team, but I stayed. 8)

Guess I'll join in on this...
Hi I'm chaos... and I'm an alcoholic...
25 year old Chinese male straight from the rice paddies of Southeast China, known for my dry sense of humor (some may call it abrasive)
Started dragonboat back in '95 with Just Dragon Along, hence the old school spelling of "dragonboat". Been with VO2 since its creation except for '97 when I was with the SFU team, Kilted Phoegons (now Adrenaline) and in '99 when I was in Toronto for a friend's graduation and a cousin's wedding. Did some merc work for Nokia Dragon Hearts at Victoria '02 and wouldn't mind merc'ing out to other teams if the price is right
Currently I take care of the administration duties for VO2 cuz somebody's gotta do it... and screw up...and get into situations like the following...
"I'd like to order jerseys for my dragonboat team, please"
"Thank you.. your order will be ready by June 17th"
"ehh??? That's after when we need it!!"
"Sorry, but we need seven weeks to complete orders"
"But what is my team gonna wear at the festival???"
"You could always go topless..."
"umm.. yeah... HAVE YOU EVER SEEN MY TEAM?!?!?!"
Don't worry guys... I've got it all under control

Well, if we don't have jerseys......
"Sorry ladies, we couldn't get the jerseys in time," chaos says as he throws a tarp over the box of jerseys that just came in, "we'll just have to go topless" 8)

Hi all you west coast people!
After some urging and arm twisting and harassment from Chaos, i finally joined this thing to see what the big deal is. 8)
I'm in Toronto paddling for the Stingrays; been doing it since 2000 and it doesn't get any easier! Last year i was a paddle slut and joined a couple of other teams for races, one of which was the Baycrest Blades (Chia paddled for them) and man they are powerful!
Anyway, i'll probably just be a lurker here cus you guys are weird Vancouverites.
Check out my website (is there a button on the bottom?) if you want more info on the Stingrays. Maybe we'll race one day!

Hi,
will the stingrays & baycrest blades be at the Montreal Festival? My team will be going there under the name "West Coast Jambalaya".
Stingrays sounds so familiar, did Chia coach for your team before?

Yeah Stingrays will be making the trip to Montreal! Don't know about the Blades though, but most likely!
And yeah Chia was our coach last year, and he paddled with us in previous years.
Cool man, see ya in montreal!

.....watchout behind me, it's gonna get wet.
I find it's usually people in front that get splashed more than the people behind. All it takes is the paddle tapping the water on the way back to the reach and all of a sudden everyone ahead of you wishes they were wearing a raincoat.
I find I do that more often at the very start of the practice when I'm not quite warmed up yet and at the end when I'm almost too tired to lift the paddle out of the water.
