I want to start a farm team called,"Team Fat and Sassy Mofo's".
Our team cheers would be,"We're fat, we're sassy, we know your mother intimately."
And,"Easy. Wiggly. Wobbly. That's how we paddle."
I figure we'd have practice on saturday or sunday only, for an hour, and then have a bbq after each practice.   Cheers
I'd expect a high turnover rate of paddlers per year. Paddlers would join if they are down and out, can't commit more than 1 day a week, or just new, and would leave when they want to get back into the action, they would have to commit for the season though.
Whaddya all think?  Very Happy

Roster (tentatively fictional)
Coach:
Drummer: Monkeydrufi
Paddlers by Seat:
1.
2.
3.
4.Photog
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.  -=Mach5=-
Steersman: Voon (until a permanent one is found)
Manager(s):
Quitter(s): Zephyrantes

cuz i was thinking of joining a small rowing team anyway during the offseason.

It would be from late March to at least Alcan, maybe Kelowna.
I dunno Tuna, I don't think this would be serious enough for you.

for the past year, tuna = steerguy. lol!

anyway, i like the commitment and seriousness involved in paddling competitively... but ive never really liked the contention of racing in general. oh the dilemmas.

too bad it's not during the offseason... tho paddlers would have to be pretty hardcore to dish it out in the cold in the first place. i figure a rowing team would be nice since it's much more dry ;0)

ohhh.. I'll be DRUMMER!!

I think one of the calls can be, "take it easy for 10 strokes!   The start was good!".. and sometime after the finish call, I'll say, "take it easy for 5!".

Count me in.  We could even bring in seat work into the races.

'Seat one only, easy 10 NOW!'
'Join in Seat two'
'Seat two only, easy 10 NOW!'
...

 Laughing

Do you think they'd stop us early if we were taking 5+ minutes to finish the race?   Question

I want the furthest back seat.  That way only the drummer and steersman will notice when I stop paddling to take breaks every other stroke.  Very Happy

If we're a full boat I'll take right side, otherwise I'll take the whole seat to myself and alternate left/right side to keep things nice and even.  Laughing

Yep, that's what people will say, "wow, look at that guy in the back of that boat that's dead last by 8 boat lengths.. he's paddling both sides, that's amazing!!"  Laughing

maybe we can stop at the half way mark and start eating french fries or something... or do "back/front half only, SUNDAY PADDLING GUYS!" at the half way, while the other half breaks for lunch.

haha, now that's getting a little too crazy.
Though if everyone could dress up as their favorite character that would be cool - of course we would practice hard at not splashing.  Very Happy
