We are just in the process of organizing for the 2019 season and have a few seats open on our mixed (Paddlers of the Fifth Moon) and womens (Snappin' Dragons) teams.

Both teams are competitively-minded rec crews in that we're looking for strong, fit, reliable, driven, committed people that work hard but are still fun to be around. Both teams are drama free and have a great group of paddlers from the relatively new to the very experienced. Target age range is 20-49 to avoid competing with our 50+ teams for recruitment but obviously the right fit will not be turned away based on age!

Both teams are coached by a highly qualified coach (Dragon Boat Canada Level 2) with almost 18 years of coaching experience. We will train both sides with a strong focus on technique and injury prevention.

Practice nights are Tues and Thurs starting April 2 and running until the Victoria festival in August. The women's team is out 530-7pm (meeting 515pm for warm up), the mixed boat is out at 7-830pm (meeting 645pm).

Fees include practice time and entry into all 4 races
Sprints (Victoria) May 26
Gorge (Victoria) June 15
Nanaimo Jul 6-7
Victoria Aug 10-11

Absolutely no experience is necessary, we'll teach you everything you need to know. You're more than welcome to come check it out before coughing up registration fees. No pressure to join, if it's not your thing, it's not your thing! Smile

There will also be an opportunity for anyone to try out dragon boat on Mar 16 1-3pm as Fairway Gorge Paddling Club is having an open house.

Anyway, if you're interested or need more info, shoot me an email! kmilne at shaw.ca

Hi Kathy,
I am currently in a mixed team but they are not participating in the Victoria regatta this year. If you are in need of spares, my husband and I would love to fill your boat for this great regatta.
Thank you and looking forward to your reply.

Hi there,  we should be ok for numbers between the 2 teams despite having a few away but I would recommend contacting our club, Fairway Gorge Paddling Club or posting on the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival facebook page as there may be other teams that are short bodies!

Hope you find a boat! Smile
