False Creek Racing Canoe Club has just created a new Masters Program for Dragon Boat paddlers!

If you are age 39 and over and

  • are paddling with another team or club
  • have paddled in the past and would love to get back into it
  • want to try paddling competitively

This program is for you.

We invite you to come out for any/all of our first 3 practices to try the program and meet the coaches

  • Monday, Sept 17, 2018 7:30pm – 9:00pm
  • Monday, Sept 24, 2018 7:30pm - 9:00pm
  • Monday, Oct 1, 2018 7:30pm – 9:00pm

If you like it, continue practicing with us on Monday nights with the goal of racing in the 2019 Regatta Season and attending the Canadian Nationals in Regina next summer!

Benefits:

  • You can and should continue to paddle with your existing team.
  • If you are not currently paddling with a team, now you are!
  • You will be paddling with your peers.
  • You will be receiving top-notch coaching.

If you are interested, click on the link below to register. Paddle with us free of charge for your first 3 sessions.
Then pay a program fee of $300 which will cover all practices, coaching, a dragon boat and OC-1 training program, and regatta fees for two events next season.

More Information:

Master's Training Schedule

  • Monday nights FC Masters 39+ 7:30pm - 9:00pm*
  • Location: Alder Bay dock, Granville Island

Racing expectations

Attending the two qualifying regattas chosen by the program which will allow us to attend the Canadian Nationals.
Attempts will be made to choose events that will disrupt as little as possible existing commitments to other teams.

Nationals are being held in Regina on July 18-21, 2019.  More information can be found at:
https://www.dragonboat.ca/canadian-championships

Training expectations
A winning team is comprised of a group of like-minded and goal-oriented individuals. To succeed at the National and International level, there must be consistent training, both on and off the water.

Coaches
The coaches will be accomplished paddlers and coaches from the FCRCC Premier Dragon Boat program.  In addition to impressive resumes, all will be Dragon Boat Canada certified.  Programming and guest coaching will be provided by Kamini Jain, two-time Olympian and multiple dragon boat and outrigger World Champion.

Program Fees
Master's Program fees are $300.00

In addition, each team member will need to be a full individual member of FCRCC which will then allow access to the program and club equipment.

*Within the Masters Program we also have a 59+ team that practices twice a week and has an eight year track record of national and international excellence. If this sounds like your kind of team, please email [email protected] to find out how to join.
