Awards
Standard Boat Categories – 1 Trophy and 28 medals for each winning team and 1 Trophy for other
participating teams.
Small Boat Categories – 1 Trophy and 16 medals for each winning team and 1 Trophy for other
participating teams.
Race by-law
1) Subject to by-law 2 below, there is no limitation on the number of race entries participated by each
organisation.
2) One paddler cannot represent more than 1 team (sub-teams under the same team name (e.g. Team
A, Team B) are regarded as different teams) in the same category. All participants must be holders
of the 2017 HKCDBA Athlete registration card.
3) Standard Boat Races: Maximum number of participants in each team is 40 including 1 team manager,
1 drummer, 1 steersman, 18 paddlers and 19 reserves.
4) Small Boat Races: Maximum number of participants in each team is be 30 including 1 team manager,
1 drummer, 1 steersman, 10 paddlers and 17 reserves.
5) The coach can also be the drummer or steersman with clear indication on the crew list.
6) Reserves for paddlers, drummer and steersman are also subject to the entry requirement of the
corresponding categories.
7) Each team must have a Team Manager, who must be present in the Crew Assembly Area during the
time when the team is racing and is under the monitoring of Race Officials.
8) Category with less than 3 participating teams will be cancelled.
9) Participants may use their own paddles in accordance with the [Clause] 5.2 Amendments of HKCDBA Competition Regulations and Rules of Racing.
10) HKCDBA Organizing Committee shall have the right to refuse any entry into the races at its sole
discretion without providing any reason.
11) Any team who severely contravenes rules and regulations or disciplinary code will be disqualified,
and are not entitled for any awards.
12) HKCDBA reserves the right to restrict the number of racing paddlers according to weather condition
for safety reason.
13) In case of illegal construction or illegal occupation of public area or destruction of facilities / planting,
teams may be prosecuted and disqualified with no refund.
**note I would highly recommending bringing a crew of 20-22 paddlers for standard boat and a crew of 12-13 for small boat. Bringing too many spares can cause issues. Some paddlers don't like to fly that far to just sit. If you do bring a larger crew, then split the crew into multiple small boat teams

Note: additional races prior to the Hong Kong international race. There are lots of local races that are held about a week and/or few days before the main race. Most notably is the Stanley race and Macau. There is also one race in a suburb of hong kong that races 40 paddlers.
These races are not part of the sponsorship however, I can try to work with local organizers to ask for discounts. Most of the local races are only one day events.

All women's team's you need a women steers and women drummer. There is no exception on this rule
Athletes cards will be issued when team register.
If teams are staying longer in hk, we have secured a hotel in hk at great rates.
Life jackets are not required but if you can't swim or not strong at it, please bring your own life jackets.
Also, bring your own paddles if you don't want to use wooden paddles.
All teammates MUST wear the exactly same team uniform (except underwear, shorts, shoes and hats)

Macau has set their date:
Macau Dragon Boat Festival 2017 is on Tuesday, May 30, 2017
Just an hour away, but quite different from Hong Kong, is Macau: the mega-resort and casino center that also has interesting historical sights.
Macau's main draw for tourists are the big casinos and hotels. It is the new gambling resort capital of the world with 5 of the world's 10 largest casino resorts. But there are also old Portuguese sites to see. UNESCO World Heritage sites San Ma Lo and Guia Fortress are popular with tourists.
You'll need your passport to travel between these two regions. However, foreign tourists to Hong Kong generally have no problem entering Macau with a free short term stamp on their passport. But no visa is required.
Getting to Macau by Ferry
Ferry prices are higher in the evening and highest at night, and higher at weekends and holidays.
Hong Kong Terminals
China Ferry Terminal is in Tsim Sha Tsui. Price: 132 to 172 HKD (single trip, economy class). It is about a kilometer north of the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry. You could walk to it through Harbour City Mall, or just take a taxi to 33 Canton Road.
Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal is near the IFC Towers in the Shun Tak Center on Hong Kong Island. Price: 132 to 172 HKD (single trip, economy class). It is near the Star Ferry, the IFC Mall, and the Shueng Wan MTR station.
Approx $22-$28 cdn dollars one way.....
