What are these fitness tests you speak of?  I look a little more like this guy than my profile pic after all these years.

The fitness test consists of a cardio component and a gym component.

For the Cardio component, you are to choose one of the following activities:
  • ERG Rowing Machine - measure the maximum distance achieved in 4 minutes with a resistance setting of 4.
  • Swimming - measure the fastest time to swim 300 meters
  • Running - measure the fastest time to run 1600 meters. This is four laps on the inside lane of a certified track.

For the Gym component, you must perform both activities:
  • Bench Press: Elbows down to 90 degrees
    • Women - 100 lbs (80 lbs permissible for first 2 tests if you can't do 100 lbs)
    • Men - 150 lbs (120 lbs permissible for first 2 tests if you can't do 150 lbs)
  • Chin Ups: Chin above bar, palms facing forward, bar straight
    • As many as can be done
    • Can kip for first 2 tests. Dead hang for subsequent tests

The first test submission deadline is Saturday, September 5th.

Should be easy for you Colossus!

Ha!  Cardio stuff is easy enough. I'll suck at the gym stuff, especially as I can't do pressing bar work since my wrist surgery. My wrist doesnt bend that way anymore. My max pull-ups ever was 6, after working hard at increasing the number.

We'll see how things go....  At least the second testing results would look fantastic compared to the first ones if I go down this dark path again.

Some additional information for those who are interested...

We will be holding a 2-day camp on the September 26th weekend at the False Creek Community Centre on Granville Island.
This camp is mandatory for anyone wishing to try out for a spot to race with us in Adelaide.

The weekend will kick off with a 5 km time trial in an OC1 (C-Lion) on Saturday morning followed by dragon boat practices, video analysis and some social time to get to know your team mates over the course of the two days.

The cost of the weekend camp is $150.00.
A portion of this cost ($100.00) will be reduced from your 2015/16 program fees should you decide to join the program after the camp.

To sign up for the camp, please contact us at [email protected].
