Since we were explaining what "jumping ship" was in the other thread I thought that it was be interesting to list out other dragonboat terms that have been tossed around while on and off the dragonboat.

6-16 - noun. Drinking game inspired by the 6-16 race start, where you set up a line of shooters across the table from each other and have the two participants race each other to see who can reach the end of the line.  Drinks consist of Half a shot, half a shot, full shot, full shot, double, double of usually Tequila... followed by 16 "up strokes" of Brokendown Golfcarts.
example: Joe challenged me to do a 6-16 but I didn't have enough cash to buy all the shots needed.[/list:u]
Chicken Wing - verb. Paddling technique where the inside arm is bent with the elbow pointing into the air during the paddle's up position. During the stroke the inside arm flaps like a chicken to provide the drive down in the catch phase.
example: Team ABC has a odd technique... they chicken wing all the way down the race course...[/list:u]
EastSide - verb. To perform an act that goes against the rules and regulations. Comes from the stereotype that the East Side of Vancouver is a rough and unsavory place to be.
example: they wanted me to go EastSide and paddle for their Junior team even when they knew I was 23...[/list:u]Jump Ship - verb. To leave your team for another. Usually because the paddler believes that the new team has a better chance of winning.
example: Jill jumped ship cuz she thought Team ABC wasn't competitive enough for her.[/list:u]
Lemming - noun. paddlers that do as their told with no opinion of their own.
example: It's easier to have a boat of lemmings since you don't need to worry about what they think[/list:u]
Merc Out - verb. To paddle for a team whose competitive level is equal or less than your original team, in a race where your team is not entered in.
example: Last year I merc'ed out to Motorola since they didn't have enough paddlers for Victoria.[/list:u]
Monkey Butt - noun. Physical condition where one's posterior is bruised and blistered, usually on one's outside buttcheek. Caused by the used of the leg drive technique.
                example: (  )(:)[/list:u]
Old Guard - noun. Paddlers that have been around the sport long enough to remember and still use "dragonboat" rather than "dragon boat"
example: If he was around to remember Toyota Team Aspirations, he's definately one of the Old Guard.[/list:u]
Paddle Slut - noun. Someone who paddles for a number of teams during the season with no ties to any.  Essentially a paddler that gets around.
example: Jill is such a paddle slut. She was with Team ABC for Alcan, jumped ship to Team Raincloud for Victoria and now she's here at Kelowna with President's Choice Paddlers.[/list:u]
Slug - noun. A dragonboat that has not been cleaned in ages and has barnacle growth that could feed a whole ecosystem.
example: The boats at DCC are all bloody slugs!!!![/list:u]
Take a swim - verb. To flip the boat.  Usually happens in marathon canoes.  I have yet to see a dragonboat take a swim.
example: Keiko and Beanpole took a swim when they took a sharp turn in their marathon while being hit on the side by an oncoming wake.[/list:u]
Wet Noodle - noun. The act of losing control of the boat causing the team to run an S-shaped course rather than in a straight line.
example: Linguini pull a nasty wet noodle during Alcan.  The amazing thing was that he managed to pull out of it and still come second the race.[/list:u]
