Hey everyone,
I'm finally coming up for air after a crazy weekend. Thanks to everyone who turned out at the 2012 Portland Dragon Boat Race last weekend! 73 teams (48 mixed, 25 women), great weather, very competitive racing, tax-free shopping, the best Beer Garden in the Pacific NW, and hopefully we didn't keep you there too late despite getting late starts both days. Heck, I was beyond thrilled that we
finished the 2000m Bridge Races before 5pm... I think we
started those at like 6pm in past years, way after they were scheduled to run. Our start/finish line buoys have never been such a problem as they were this year... guess that's one thing that we'll be focusing on fixing in the off season. At least the officials use cameras and fixed points on land to view the actual line. And yes, that barge! Don't get me started... Glad to hear that you thought the boats were finally fair this year. We took a lot of time (and volunteers) washing them the weekend before the race. We also reweighed and then weighted them to IDBF standards and will continue to do so in the future.
