Hi all,

Well, we're still not technically done racing yet but being the obsessive planner that I am I'm looking forward to the 2013 season.  Given that we have a lot of military folk and some headed off to school/moving etc, it's likely we may have some space on Paddlers of the Fifth Moon (mixed) and possibly Snappin' Dragons (womens) too.  Fifth Moon likes a big roster as especially this year we had a lot of our military paddlers in and out through the season!

Both crews had a great year and are looking to be even stronger next year.  Both are competitively minded rec crews with no drama or nonsense, just great people working hard and getting along.  Snappin' Dragons in their second season were 4th in womens platB in Nanaimo, 1st in womens at Gorge and 1st in womens PlatB in Victoria.  Fifth Moon's 12th season brought 2nd in PlatB in Nanaimo, 6th overall at Gorge and 3rd in DiamondB in Victoria.  In addition to that, both crews were top two in fundraising for the BC Cancer Foundation at the VDBF raising over $23,000 combined, demonstrating our community commitment.

You'll have solid coaching (dragon boat community level coaching course, NCCP Level A&B, BCRPA fitness theory, 11yrs experience etc) with a strong focus on technique and injury prevention and an awesome team environment on either crew.  Also lots of opportunities for cross-training.  We paddle both sides and we don't have dedicated drummers or steerers, rather a roster of people that can rotate in and out of positions as needed.  If you want to be a versatile, skilled paddler, we're your boat.

If you're fit, strong, committed, reliable, driven all while being fun to be around, you're probably a good match.  No flaky people, lilly-dippers or whiners please!  Smile

If you're interested in checking us out next season, there will be a mass exodus to the outriggers starting this weekend, you're more than welcome to come paddle outrigger with us through the fall and winter whether or not you're sticking with your own team next year.  No recruitment pressure at all for next season, we only want people that really want to be on our crews so if you're happy where you are, you can still come outrigger and not feel the pressure to join us for dragon boat!  Smile

If you want more info or are interested in checking things out, shoot me an email at [email protected].  Free learn to run groups will start up in Jan (regular run group is on-going), will post more info closer to the time, again, anyone is welcome.

Enjoy the off-season or good luck at your last festival!
