Hi all,

We're just in the process of sorting out numbers for Paddlers of the Fifth Moon mixed crew and Snappin' Dragons women's crew but we may have space to take a couple folk on.  I like big rosters!

Snappin' Dragons paddles 5:30-7pm Tues/Thurs at GRPC most likely starting April.  There will be a meeting on Jan 13 for anyone interested.

Paddlers of the Fifth Moon paddles right after at 7-8:30pm Tues/Thurs at GRPC, at the moment we just have male seats open but things can always change.

Both teams are hardworking, committed crews with no drama and minimal turnover.  Fifth Moon is entering its 12th season while Snappin' Dragons is going into its 2nd year after a strong debut.  Both crews are geared toward a high-level rec or comp/rec mindset.

If you're a fit person with the drive to help push yourself and your team as far as it will go while maintaining a positive, supportive attitude and showing up consistently to work hard then you'd be a good match.  We rarely leave the dock with a half full boat and comradery is high on and off the water.  Our crews came in first and second at Navy Chicken Run last year where team work is critical for success!  No experience is necessary, we can teach you how to paddle but you must have the right attitude!

We have a strong focus on technique and injury prevention.  The coach (me) has over 10yrs of coaching experience including several dragon boat technical courses, NCCP level A&B, BCRPA fitness theory etc and has experience coaching both completely new and experienced paddlers so you're in good hands.

If you're interested in either crew or would like more info, send me an email at [email protected].  Also if you're interested in our free run groups (completely open to any paddler from any other crew - or friends and family) let me know and I'll get you on the email list.

I should mention that we do train both sides so if you are experienced and only paddle one side and are scared of the other by this point, that may not work for you!  Smile

Hi all,

We have a pretty good list going for the women's crew at the moment but could use a couple more guys for Fifth Moon to help cover some of the random ins and outs through the season (weddings, vacations, deployments etc!).  We could probably squeeze a girl or two somewhere, I'm a fan of big rosters provided we have the right fit.

If you're interested in a drama-free, hardworking, supportive team with a focus on technique and injury prevention (we train both sides) that's able to get over it if the race result doesn't match the effort put in (as long as the best effort was put in!) then either crew is a good option!

Shoot me an email and I can let you in on the details! [email protected]

Snappin' Dragons (womens) 5:30-7pm Tues/Thurs starting Apr3 at GRPC
Fifth Moon (mixed) 7-8:30pm Tues/Thurs starting Apr3 at GRPC

Hi all,

Both crews are doing well for numbers but we'll have a couple people in and out with various postings/vacations so we're still keen to cram in a couple extra folk between Snappin' Dragons (womens) and Fifth Moon (mixed), plus we're pretty friendly and like meeting new people!

Both crews start up next Tues, and practice Tues/Thurs, officially until the Victoria Festival but unofficially until Portland.

Snappin' Dragons is out 5:30-7pm and Fifth Moon's out 7-8:30pm.

Both are solid, hardworking boats with no drama.  Fifth Moon's into our 12th season and actually for the first time in history has more guys than girls on the boat!  Snappin' Dragons is entering their second year and has gone from 50% brand new paddlers last year to 50% paddlers training through the winter in outriggers this season.  I'm excited to see what both crews can do this year.  Last year in addition to doing well on the water we were the top 2 fundraising crews for the BC Cancer Foundation at the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival ($33,000+ combined) and also came in top 2 at the Navy Chicken Run, a definite indicator of the level of teamwork on both crews.

Anyway, if you like tight spaces and are strongly motivated to push yourself, shoot me an email ([email protected]) and you can come check out either crew next Tues or Thurs.

Only one spot left on Snappin' Dragons women's crew to bring us up to a nice 26!  The boat is looking pretty good so far so if you have the drive and want to come check it out, let me know.  Practices Tues/Thurs 5:30-7pm at GRPC

We're technically around 27-28 on Fifth Moon at the moment but we have a few ins and outs with postings and vacations so have a couple spots for either gender to help keep us fully stocked on race day.  Practices Tues/Thurs 7-8:30pm at GRPC.

Both crews are a solid collection of people, no drama and a strong focus on technique, you're more than welcome to come hop in with either crew next week and see how it goes!  Must be fit, committed, reliable, driven and generally not a jerk!  Experience not required, just the right attitude.
