Does anyone understand how the mixed teams are seeded? My low IQ is preventing me from understanding this grid... sigh Confused

Just eyeballing it, it seems like they'll take both a team's Women and Open's times together and use that to seed the Mixed instead.

This grid should make it much more clear:

This grid is a dog's breakfast - for womens' teams there are only 2 races - one race against other womens teams and then a race mixed with womens/open.  Advancement based on one heat - this will result in unfair and unequitable advancements due to changing tidal conditions during first heats. Unlikely that most teams will get to go head to head against teams in their classification in the second heat.  Not very satisfying.  Will we be back?   Unlikely.

Am I missing something?

There are a lot of potential complaints that I can see.  But I guess it is hard to juggle all the various factors regarding this regatta, such as it being a 10 man, having womens, open, mixed, and junior races, A & B teams or not, and somehow fitting everything into one day.  Just take it for what it is I guess, a chance to try something different in 10 man racing and practice for Alcan.

I disagree. I think that advancement based on the time of 1 heat will be almost as good as using the combined time of 2 heats. Looking at the recent Deep Cove sprints - if only the 1st heat would have been used 7 out of the 8 teams in A would have been the same as using 2 heats.

I bet the final races are pretty typical with most teams being in the right division, we'll see...

If it wasn't for the ladies, it would be a clean sweep for the U23 group over False Creek.  One West and East dominated FCRCC HP in Open and Mixed.  The number 2 FCRCC HP mixed team only came third.  Great Job by the U23 group and their coaches.

Stay tuned for the rest of the regattas.  The tide is changing.  Looks like a new sheriff is in town!

Well deserved for sure, staying at Granville island for up to 12 hours the past week for their U23 camp. Paddling, gym, and more paddling.  Only youngins could take that kinda punishment and still race well at the end of it

Don't worry, I think the good ol' sheriff is still in town. If not, who would set the standard for us kids to train hard and try to reach some day? And besides, I don't think the sheriff was out with their full squad that day either. Plenty of time to play cops and robbers  Laughing.

Great day of racing regardless of all the random spurts of rain/hail. The new course on False Creek is definitely interesting, and it's fun to get out on those 10-mans to race once in a while.

Question - is Creakside Masters spelled "Creakside" or "Creekside"?

Both names make sense... considering it's an O23 team Wink
