Hello Everyone,

Next year Sudden Impact Paddling Club would like to create a high calbre comp A team to challenge for a top 5 finish at the Canadian National Dragon Boat Championships in Wellend Ontario July 1-3, 2011.

We are currently in discussions with the Fraser Valley Dragon Boat Club and the Fort Langley Canoe Club to see if there is any interest in creating a combined team from paddlers living in the Valley.   Our thought is why not follow in the footsteps with great programs like FCRCC High Performance, Gorging Dragons Victoria, and Magnum?  If you can't beat them ... copy them!  Wink

We are just in the planning phase but our tentative schedule would look like this

Team Development and Selection dates

- October or November 2010: 2 - day Evaluation Camp location and dates to be announced

- October to Early December: Off Season Paddling (Minimum 1 Dragon Boat Practice a week plus one OC6 practice a week)

- Mid December to February:  Dry Land Training Program

- February to March: Off Season paddling program resumes (as described above)

- Mid-March to July: 3 Dragon Boat Practices a week or a minimum of 8 practices a month, all paddlers are expected to paddle OC6 and OC 1 as much as possible.

- April 2011:  2-3 day team selection camp

- July 5, 2011 – Program completion date (paddlers return to club teams)

We are only planning on doing 3 qualifiers for the Club Crews then off to Wellend.  If your interested please PM me and I will add you to our email list and provide you with more information.

Thanks

Our Evaluation (come try it out!) will be held November 6-7, 2010 here at Cultus Lake.  Again if anyone is interested in challenge we'd be happy to hear from you.

SI Black will be holding an open house at Cotton Wood Mall on October 16, 2010.  We will be sharing our goals to launch a competitive team.  Recruit for our recreational teams, youth team and talk about our OC6 program which will start up this fall.

Please come check out what we have to offer.

Hello Everyone,

As many of you know we are trying to create a high performance  comp team in the Fraser Valley.  Everything is in place to make this a reality - coaching, equipment, and experienced paddlers that have competed at a National Level.

With Club Crews less than 8 months away we're asking less than an 8 month commitment.  I would like to see the creation of two teams.  A high performance team consisting of the best paddlers and possibly a Master's team.  In San Francisco SI Black entered a masters team which consisted of 11 SI paddlers & 9 Jet Start paddlers and they won the Master's division beating Master's of the D'Zone & Pond Scum in the process - no easy feat as they are very good teams!

My focus is the High Performance Team and we have the paddlers to make that work.  We just need a commitment plus a few more men and women.

I will need to know if you interested in attending this camp Nov 6-7 at Cultus Lake, no later than October 16, 2010.

Thanks
