Hello Fellow Paddlers,


I’m writing to see if  you might be able to take two minutes to a) help a fellow dragon boating organization out and b) see what, if any, viral marketing power the dragon boat community might have.


THE QUICK SUMMARY :


*Chase Bank is running a contest on Facebook where small non-profit organizations can receive a portion (up to $250,000) of a total $5,000,000 available based on votes received via its Chase Community Giving application.
 
*The California Dragon Boat Association (www.CDBA.org) which puts on the San Francisco International Dragon Boat Festival (www.SFdragonboat.com) and which also runs the largest youth dragon boat program in the United States (at no charge to the High School members) is hoping to win a portion of these funds. Certainly many of you have come and/or are coming down to our festival this year and know that we very much care about our sport and the DB community.

*This contest represents a golden opportunity to get money (which will support our youth program and hopefully go toward replacing our race fleet for our dragon boat race when that time comes) into our sport with MINIMAL time and effort required on your part.

*Next year, another Dragon Boat organization (or multiple organizations) could get this money if we help each other out (previous winners are no longer eligible).  Let’s see what our DB community can do !
 
HOW TO HELP:

Votes must be made by the Deadline on Monday July 12, 2010

Please:
1) Log on to Facebook.
2) Search for “Chase Community Giving�
3) Type in California Dragon Boat Association in the box where it says Charity Name (note: you must type it out CDBA won't bring it up).
4) Click on "Get Started to Vote"
5) Request for Permission page appears - Click “Allow�
6) "Like Chase Community Giving" pops-up - Click "Like"
7) Click Close
8) Click “Vote Now�
9) Get all of the hundreds of FaceBook friends you have to do the same!
*Note that steps 4 and 5 can be reversed after the voting deadline for those of you who hate apps.

Thanks much for reading this and for your time and support.  Let's see what we can do!   I'll report back and look forward to see many of you on the water soon (in Hong Kong, Long Beach and, of course, San Francisco) !

As most of you know, Dragon Boatting can be expensive but if the CDBA did get some of the funding, it will go to a worthy group of friends who can make a difference to so many different lives.

Currently, CDBA is ranked 59th in the standings (59 CALIFORNIA DRAGON BOAT ASSOCIATION San Francisco, CA) with 1456 votes.

The Top group is HP ALLIANCE INC Somerville, MA with 19,744 votes.

First thought is wwwooooaaahhhh.. that is a huge difference. But all it takes is one more vote and we will be closer.

There is only 4 more days left. It only took 3 minutes of my time....

Let's see how big our community is......

Congratulations San Francisco - CDBA

They received $20K, from Chase.  They have purchased a new Dragon Boat, a storage container for paddles/jackets and new paddles/PFD's

Without all your votes, CDBA would have not have won

I never properly thanked all of you who took a moment out of your busy schedules to help a fellow DB organization out.  The California Dragon Boat Association (www.cdba.org) is extremely grateful for your support and we plan to use this funding to further strengthen our dragon boat races and programs.  Hopefully, you all can come on down to our TI race (SFdragonboat.com) to see what we are doing firsthand !
