Hello everyone,

Thought it would be a great idea to get lots of people together from different teams/clubs for a Santa Paddle. I know FCRCC usually puts out a message but this year I've contacted those from Jericho, Pac Reach, VOS, FCRCC outrigger to join in the fun. Also a great way to promote the sport for passerbyers.

If you can make it and have a boat here is the scoop:

When: December 19th 9:30am
Where: Start at Burrard compound and head into the creek (Alder Bay) to meet up with other boats
What: any boat will do, dragon boat, OC6, solos

If you have a group and have access to a boat please join in and bring your Christmas spirit.

Make this a good opportunity to donate to the food bank, organize within your group to gather non-perishable items for the food bank.

I'll bump this post closer to the actual date.

Cheers,

Kelli

PS: Crossing fingers this doesn't turn into a logistical nightmare or flop  Surprised

Hey Special K,

FCRCC is very happy to open this tradition to the wider paddling community. Here are some pictures from last year: http://www.fcrcc.com/gallery?g2_itemId=34

I welcome all assistance  Very Happy. I've put the date out there and if you have any ideas and would like to add to this event please feel free to do so. I haven't participated in a Santa paddle for a few years so any help is greatly appreciated.

Run with it! Feel free to post your ideas on this thread.

Cheers,

Kelli

All you need is to organize a time, place and date.  Volunteers for food and hot beverages.  Propane heaters if you want.  I think VOS has one which we borrowed for March Madness.  In previous years we also recommended paddlers provide a donation of non-perishable food item as participation fee to the food bank.  That's about it... nice and simple.

Hello everyone,

Just a reminder that the Santa Paddle date is drawing near. Crossing fingers and toes for a clear mild day. No real set route except for those in the Burrard/Kits/Jericho area to meet up at the Burrard dock around 9am'ish, then travel to the opening of Alder Bay around 9:30'ish to pick up more boats (hopefully!), then to Science World to meet up with Dragon Zone paddlers and so on and so on and so on.

Perhaps we could moor ourselves at Science World and David Lam Park to sing a few carols for passer byers.

Don't forget to collect food and $$$'s within your group for the food bank.

If you have any ideas feel free to post and take charge.

Ho-ho-ho!!!
