Hello Dragon Boat Community,

Water's Edge is currently seeking volunteers for the World Police & Fire Games - Dragon Boat Racing (10's and 20's).  The event will be happening on False Creek at the Plaza of Nations.

Positions that we are looking to fill:

Friday, August 7 - Set Up Crews and Steerspeople for Practices (both morning and afternoon shifts)
Saturday, August 8 - Volunteers of various positions for race management.

For more information and to sign-up, please contact Jackie Webber at [email protected].  Please put WPFG Volunteer in the subject line and indicate your availability.

Cheers.

Has anyone steered one of the 10's before? ... how do they feel? tips to watch for? ... or just try it, you'll like it?

I am volun-steering both days so will be trial by water.

Should be a great day of action. Just don't try to steal, burn, or smuggle anything.

Laws of physics still apply. Agoild be tippier, turnable and better acceleration. Should I take a few pix of you just in case?

I'm not the lightest cat in the herd, so the sploosh and skadoosh should be spectacular ... and best captured on a high speed sports setting. If I break the Laws of Physics while steering a boat full of police officers am I still liable?

I heard to-day that the dragonboat races are being held at the Plaza of Nations from 8AM til 6PM in 10 man dragonboats. This from a reasonable source, but not an official.

BOOOO!  looks like rain is the weather of the day for Saturday.  It'll be better than 30+ degree weather, but I'd rather have a little less rain and a little more sun.

Never give a match up halfway through. Never say that you do not feel up to it, that your condition is bad, and throw in the towel. Fight to the very end, always looking for your chance to break through.
