The only thing I hate is that I don't where to send the money.  I suppose that I can just throw it on the jetty.

Oh... that would be important, wouldn't it?

For yourself and anyone else, please PM me or post here and I'll send you my address! Cheque and cash works best. I don't really do electronic transfers... because... I don't really know how.  Mad

Hey mandachan,

I was going to go to Prague with the United States U23 team, but it doesn't look like we are able to go due to costs. I know firsthand the difficulties that students face with finances, so all I can offer are my well wishes! Go kick butt in Prague, and proudly represent North America!

Just another option for the donors to try:

If you and the person making the donation both bank on-line then you can do an email money transfer.

I think it only costs the sender a buck (depends on their bank) to make the transfer and there is no cost to the recipiant

It's easy and it doesnt really matter what bank either of you deal with.
You dont have to even tell each other what bank you deal with.

To send money to you all they need is your email address.  They sign into their on-line bank account and select 'Interact Email Money Transfer' (This is what the TD calls it.  Other banks might call it something slightly different)

They would establish a password that you will need to know to accept the transfer.
(Just in case someone else has access to your email)

You open the email which comes directly from their bank and the instructions are there. I believe there is a link and you can select YOUR bank and sign into your on-line account with your bank.

All you do is sign into your account and  'accept' the transfer.  The funds are in your account that day.  No waiting for cheques to clear.

I works and it's easy.

just curious.  since this money collected is going straight to your own pockets and not a charity, what happens if you get more money than you need (which is possible)? will you actually tell people to stop sending money or will you announce the amount of extra money received and you will donate the excess funds?

I've been looking at being around there at the same time, and I've found air canada airfare to Dresden (about a 2 hour train ride from Prague) for ~CDN$800 return. If you're really nice I might be able to set you and a few others up at a Dresden dragon boat and paddling club. They've got an amazing clubhouse on a crappy little river. I've paddled and raced there a few times. Good memories. Their race director is a good friend of mine.

If FCRCC is interested in a host club 2 hours from Prague, let me know. I can see if they'd be interested. I consider this club to be my "other" DB club.

If BanFus is practicing tomorrow, talk to me about it. Apparently SF is having a fun practice then...

I've actually thought of this one!

I will cap these donations to my trip at $3500 (this is STRICTLY to/from Prague, accomodations with my team, food/drink (I don't drink alcohol), race registration, and coaching fees. any souveniers I buy or other travelling I do will be out of my own pocket)

After that, I will tell everyone I have reached my goal and if there are any more donations, I will happily put it into my other cause:

All excess proceeds will extend to another fundraiser I'm doing.

The reason I'm leaving for Prague only days before the competition (and not a week, like the rest of my team) is because I'm walking the Weekend to End Breast Cancer in honour of my mother.

Here's the list of donors to the the Weekend to End Breast Cancer: http://answertocancer.xanga.com/weblog/

Here is my webpage for this cause: http://www.endcancer.ca/site/TR/Events/Vancouver2009?px=2824943&pg=personal&fr_id=1320

To date I've raised $6768.

You can see a photo of my mom and I when I graduated high school 3 years ago.

Thanks so much for asking - I forgot to mention this part, and it's very important I do so.

I don't want to go offtopic but this is a thread I posted a few months ago with a few more details if you're interested.

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to thank all of you paddlers, coaches, managers, steers, dockspeople, and anyone else who have given me so much support so far. Whether it be in the form of a facebook message to cards to flowers to hugs Smile I now feel as unstoppable as a 21 year old following her dreams.

To date I've received just over $1500 even though it has only been 18 days since I first posted this video. I would like to give everyone a sincere thanks from the bottom of my heart. I just bought my return plane ticket to Toronto to practice with the U23's. There, I'll pick up a nice workout shirt and write all donors' names on it. All donations count as long as I know you did so! Anonymous ones are fine too.

Whether it be the beautiful sound of dropping change into the "Prague Can" at Dragonzone in exchange for the best post-paddling candy in the world, or whopping $50 to $1000 cheques from my very dear supportive sponsors, I'm ready to take on the world and realize my dream of being an international racer.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

manda

ps: Feel free to grab a few more candies when you stop by DZ!  Cool

Thanks a lot!

I don't have a paypal yet, no... but you have inspired me to make one just now.

I have to wait a few days but I'll get back to you when I confirm my bank account!
