Magnum and Sudden Impact Black will be there as well. Throw Pemberton Eagles in and all the top comp teams are accounted for unless I'm missing a couple.

Look forward to paddling against FCRCC, Magnum, Pac Reach, and Pemberton this weekend, should be a blast. We've tweaked our roster a bit so you'll see some new faces as we start to prepare for Nationals in Montreal - August. We expect a very competitive weekend as usual. Master's you not coming?

Hey everyone! I'm not headed north this year for the festival but I wanted to say that paddling with SI Black, Booze Cruise, and Swordfish last year [Team BS] was a blast. BEST Festival ever, imo. Great sun, clean water, beautiful weather and scenery, and a really well run festival. My favorite festival! Have fun and remember to bring the sunscreen!

Does anyone know if we'll be doing 200 m? There was some talk about doing 200 m at Harrison and I wanted to make know if that will be the case for Whistler. I checked the Water's Edge website but could not find any info.
Thanks

I believe there would be at least a 200m, some 500m, and a fun 1000m race.

Yes there will be 200, 500 and 1000 races at Whistler! Should be awesome weather and I heard the Beer tent will be on the beach this year and open to the public! We expect a very competitive weekend as usual. Master's you not coming? No DiggerPig, we will not be there as it takes a few weeks for us old people to recover from Alcan.... however we will see you in Harrison with the same old faces!

Ok ... I know that today was supposed to be the day that Water's Edge was going to have the race grid out. No worries that I can't find it. But do we know if there is any change to the format from last year? I heard there was going to be more teams so I am assuming that we might not do the obsticle course?
Is it fair to assume that it will be 2 x 200m, 2 x 500m, and 1 x 1000m race grids? I know that 1000m is a fun race open to only 12 teams but working on the rosters.
Do we need to register for the 1000m?

Hey DiggerPig: The race info package is available for download on the www.whistlerdragonboat.com website. Just go to the Race Info tab. I am having problems downloading the race grid though. Regarding the 1000m, you do have to pre-register as it is limited to 12 teams. So you have to email Jackie. See you in Whistler on Saturday! cheers.

They used an incorrectly formatted URL for the link to racegrid. Here's the correct link: http://whistlerdragonboat.com/whistler2009racegridsaturday.pdfIt's going to be fairly busy Saturday. Two 3-boat 200m heats and one 3-boat 500 heats for every teams, then 1000m for the daring teams. While really simple, the seeding looks like some of us will be guaranteed stiff competition early on. It'll be make for a good race against FCRCC and Baldie just before lunch.

The times are messed up, race 2 and 3 are at the same time and that throws the times off for the other races

Here is the number of races, some are optional.
Saturday 2x200m, 1x500m (racing for times to determine what division you get into) 1000m exhibition (signup required)
