Open division according to the racegrid, with eight teams.

Got it.  A yet un-numbered heat listed between 43 & 44 (does that make it heat 43A?)

And a women's guts and glory at the end of day one, interesting!  That's a L-O-N-G day for those ladies arriving early on Saturday AM.

I'm more interested in Magnum Vs Master and Without Warning result, especially when sushi is involved. Laughing

When money for sushi is involved, the motivation for winning always increases greatly hahahha

Since many have mentioned heat 10, and the DW vrs LARD battle... Anniemaniacs, from Portland, should not be left out of the discussion.  The USA teams will be well represented in that heat.

Wow, now that you mentioned it, its 4 american teams out of 8 duking it out on their first race...exciting!  Very Happy

the Laoyam Eagles are not racing in the Adult division.

There's enough teens on Magnum to represent the youth lol

What happened to Gorgin Dragons?

What about Mauna Hale?

Mauna Hale is Mountain Home Canoe Club in Portland and do not "normally" enter dragon boat races as they technically are an OC team.  Every couple of years they enter Alcan - look back over the past six years or so.

Hello, my first post - I'm w/ the Space Dragons (Los Angeles).
We're stoked about the trip up to make our Alcan deput!

Thanks Mike (LARD) for the shout-outs in the thread.  Funny that we're traveling all the way to Vancouver just to end up racing against each other a bunch of times (Black/Red, Men, Women) Smile!

We'll give our best to provide some heat from the initial outside lane assignments.  Look forward to meeting & racing w/ everyone ... and this fabled beer garden on Sunday afternoon.

Oh I heard abt that, I meant what about Mauna Hale as in what prevented them from coming this year specifically? lack of oc paddlers to field a team, etc?  Very Happy

Always have a designated waker...to avoid missing your flights out, coz you guys had super fun time (read: hammered) on Sunday afternoon lol

Gorging apparantly is no longer ...a sign of the times

There are quite a few Gorging paddlers still on the water in Victoria. Some are focusing on outrigger while others are just taking a summer to do other things. From what I've heard there may be a thrown together team in at least one festival this year and they will be back next year....
