Hello all female paddlers!

The Burnaby Fire Breathing Dragons (Burnaby Fire Dept) are in training for the World Police & Fire Games 2009. There is a Dragon Boat Racing event as part of the WPFG Games. The Fire Breathing Dragons entered their very first regatta a few weeks ago and did relatively well but it was a 500 meter event. They have been in weekly training since mid April doing only 200 meter pieces. They are hoping to peak at the right time which is for the WPFG's 200 Meter Sprints which takes place on Saturday, August 8th, 2009. The roster has the minimum # of women which is 4 for a mixed 20's crew. They are not using IDBF rules due to the lower # of women in law enforcement or fire fighting. I as a coach would feel much better if I had at least 1 more female. This does not mean you will only be a spare. If you are reading this then chances are you are already a paddler. This is good because none of my crew have ever paddled before and to date they've had 8 practices only. You would surely be a good compliment to the crew. Also if you are already on a mixed or womens crew your commitment would be for just the 1 event in August. Your team would not be involved in anything that is WPFG related and therefore not a conflict. I would however like it if you can come out for the Sunday morning practices. We practice out of the Pitt Meadows Paddling Club which is about 3-4 kms from the Pitt River Bridge in Pitt Meadows. We have just started a week night practice this week but we have not yet firmed up which night of the week works best for the crew due to shift work etc.

If you are:

35 or over
Female
In law enforcement or fire fighting
Available all day on Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Then we WANT YOU!

Please contact me via PM on here or at [email protected].

Thank you for reading and for your interest in the team. The team is registered in what the WPFG call the "seniors" division hence why you need to be at least 35. If you know anyone who is in law enforcement or fire fighting and female then please cut and paste this posting and email them so they can get a hold of me with any questions.

Teamwork is so important that it is virtually impossible for the team to reach the heights of it's capabilities or achieve winning results without becoming very good at it. You must practice TEAMWORK as a team, not as individuals!

Sorry babe you have to be ummmm registered with some sort of designation I believe?  Laughing

But let your friends in the "real" law enforcement know about my post.

Thanks!

I wanted to mention that even border/customs officers are considered law enforcement and they too may be a member of the team.

Thanks all for your enquiries.
