Gorging will be there but not with the superteam some were expecting. About half the team is still in Asia (including about 6 of their top 8 guys) They are struggling to fill the boat and may be going with a less than full team. I'm sure they will still be strong and make the A final but it could be anyones guess to see who wins this one!!

I'm not as in touch with the Island scene as I once was, but after this past weekend, it looks like Navy will be pretty strong.  And my heart is always rooting for PI as they were my first team.  I don't know if I have as much info as vicpaddler, but I do know that there are still a fair number of GDs travelling around right now and won't be there this weekend.  It looks to be a great opportunity for a new team to claim top honours this year as I'm pretty sure it's only been Kai and Gorging winning the Festival for the past 7 years.

Good luck one and all!

I only have 2 predictions for Victoria:

a) there will be some sort of crazy collision or near collision, thanks to the tides/currents/etc

b) the Pirates will comand control of the beer garden!  Cheers

Good luck all!

After day one, Gd's (and friends Smile) have the fastest time with a 1:59:64 (the only sub 2 so far)
the rest of the top ten are in order of their combined times from the first day of racing.

Sudden Impact Black
Navy
Edgewater
PI
Xtreme
Portland Fire Dragons
Dragon Hearts
Dragonauts
Anniemaniacs.

This is by my own math and not the official race results as it has not been posted yet  Mad  I hope I haven't messed it up or missed someone.

    1) Edgewater
    2) GD's  (about .6 back)
    3) Navy

GD's led for most of it but got outfinished in the final 100 m or so. Times were around 2:02 or so for the final. (sorry don't know the exact times.

Well, Victoria was great!  Blazing heat on Saturday, and nifty lightning on Sunday...I am pretty sure most everyone had a good time.

The above race results look about right, though you missed the 50+ results from late Saturday afternoon:

1.  Amazing Greys Mixed
2.  FC Grand Dragons
3.  St'Keya
4.  Sunshine Dragons
5.  The Eh Team

The top three teams were all within about 1 sec. of each other.  I realize that many on this site don't think this is critical info, but, as a paddler for the Greys, I think of this race with (not-so) fond memories.

A great weekend, and Greg was once again awesome in the marshalling area -- he really does make festivals fun!

Thanks to all....see you next year.

So being new to this, I wonder how paddleBOT found the results for the Victoria festival, I have been on the officail website but can't find the results.
