Hi everyone (in Victoria!)

This is just a quick note to let you know that we're starting up our free run groups on Sat Jan 26 at 9am at GRPC.  Run sessions will be Sat at 9am, Tues at 6pm and Thurs at 6pm until March where it will become Sat/Mon/Wed.  If you can't make the times though, I will be setting up sub groups to try and get as many people hooked up with a group as possible, or you can always do the odd run on your own.

We follow a program from Sportmed BC in preparation for the Times Colonist 10K in April.  It's a great way to get warmed up for dragon boat season too.

Everyone is welcome so please feel free to pass along to your teams, friends, family, this is a supportive, non-competitive group.  Come check it out!

Honestly the program works, we had over 40 complete the 10K last year and some have since gone on to run half and full marathons.  We've been running this program since 2004 at no cost to the participants (other than making sure you have some good shoes!).

If you have more questions or would like to be included on the list, you can e-mail me at [email protected].

If you're definitely interested, please let me know which of the following you're interested in so I can make sure we have good coverage in each area:

- Walk 10K
- Learn to Run 10K (geared for the absolute beginner or someone that hasn't run in a long time)
- Run 10K (must be able to run 30min comfortably, let me know your most recent 10K pace if you have one so I can set up pace groups)
- Half marathon - new this year by popular demand!  Will aim for Oak Bay Half in May (should have been running regularly for at least 6 mos to a year)

All are welcome, please pass it along!  Look forward to seeing you on the 26th!  Smile

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder, there is still time to sign up for one of the free run groups, we're approaching 80 people now in the various groups!

If you're interested, in Victoria or need more info, send me an e-mail to [email protected].

Another update - we're now up over 100 people, anyone is welcome!

We're starting this Saturday at 9am at Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre.

Get the jump on the dragon boat season, lose holiday weight, whatever the reason, you're welcome to come check it out.  No cost, all you need is a pair of running shoes and you're all set to start training for the Times Colonist 10K, the Oak Bay Half Marathon or just until your dragon boat team hits the water.

Between our 4 groups (walk, learn to run, run faster, half marathon) we can pretty much accommodate anyone from those that walk to those that run in a supportive, non-competitive environment.  Don't be intimidated to give it a try if you've never run before.

If you'd like to come check things out, we'll see you at the Gorge on Sat.  If you'd like to be on the e-mail list or get more info, e-mail me at [email protected].
