LUKE ROCKS!!!   Laughing

Team to Beat ... Had to be DWW - Without Warning ... they did very good this year and were stiff competition all year long.  I would also give kudos to Navy ... they had a good season and man could they drink!  Cheers

Coach of the year would have to be Jason (Coached Calgary Race Club)

Woops hit enter too quick

To finish what I was saying.  Jason and his co coach Jen took a new team of paddlers (all of us had paddled before, but on different teams), pulled us together  to where we held our own in the CC Nationals in Calgary.

You will just keep seeing that team get better and better under Jason/Jen's coaching.

Wouldn't the team to beat be the best team in Western Canada (i.e. False Creek)?

just throwin this out there but...

The Shocker of the Year - Taiwanese Festival, our FCRCC A crew came in last, on a Saturday race as they misjudged which flag to grab...they surrendered a good 25sec lead on the rest of the field!!!  haha...sorry guys and gals...we still luv ya but the rest of us did get a good chuckle, on the shore, from that race!!!  The other teams were embellishing the fact that they beat the best crew known to them!!

edit -

here's the link...haha...

Brainiac,

The only reason why I didn't write in FCRCC as the team to beat ... NO ONE CAN BEAT THEM!!!  So I went for a team that was good but could be beaten ... That is also why I didn't write down Gorging Dragons.

I want to beat FCRCC ... but can I ... nope!  Sad

O.K ... This time I'll try and answer the question

Most Improved - TD Lightning ... they had a bad year last year and have rebound nicely

Team to beat - FCRCC A

Best looking - Mana Wahine ... hell I asked Jen and Ellie if they would let me join  Pray

Most Luck - Fresh off the Dragon Boat ... got to paddle with Sudden Impact in Calgary!   Laughing

Team that did the best through a re-build year.- Fresh Off the Dragon Boat did well considering so many new paddlers ... agreed

Steersman of the year - Peter Taylor - Sudden Impact ... we didn't crash into anyone this year!!!

Coach of the year - Dom and Andre

Regatta of the year - Vernon

Shocker of the year. - ALCAN ... with that many teams there is always bound to be a few shockers.

If I could add one more category to this list it would be "Most Inspiring" and my nomination would be
 "Team Off Ballance"

This year at Harrison they accomplished one of their goals ,with the caller Shelly, from the Water Warriors urging them with shouts of "under three!!" under three!!" they finished the race in 2.54 seconds ,, no mean feat for a team that has so many challenges, and they are probably one of the happiest teams out there ..

I heartily concur with Ian. A bit more info: Off Balance is a team created by and for people with MS and their friends. Several members are wheelchair bound. They are a great bunch of people who love paddling.

I would say that FCRCC is the team to beat...   teams like gorging and dww and roli/master of d'zone prove it.  its GREAT to have people wanting to bring down the likes of fcrcc.  it helps those trying to get better and stronger while at the same time keeping the fcrcc paddlers in check and never letting anyone "relax".  if you're going to be competitive, why not set a realistically achievable goal (it IS realistic to get as fast as fcrcc) in order to push yourself harder.  it doesn't have to be an immediate/short term goal, but something to work towards.  people continuing to strive to be the absolute best is what keeps this sport growing.
